so next time y'all are looking to pay a couple more dollars for name-brand butter, remember all these guys are just slapping labels on the same government butter coming from the same plant.

Just want to point out the obvious and say that coming from the same plant doesn't mean they're all the same thing.

Is there a discernible price difference?

If you want to upgrade butter, go by butterfat content.

I realize this phrase gets thrown around way too much, but in this case it's appropriate.

CAD703X is a legitimate national treasure.

I don’t know shite about butter manufacturing. I do know that commercial bakeries bake all kinds of bread and use different recipes. Example: One bakery will bake Sunbeam, Walmart, Winn Dixie, etc. brand bread.

I only ever buy the store brand butter unless one of the name brands is on sale for even less.

If I'm getting a special butter, its Kerrygold or Amish butter.

When you say finally have proof, does that mean that this is something you have spent your entire life trying to do? Is this your personal vendetta? Been doing research in a lightless basement?

I figured most ppl know this....butter is a commodity. Only difference in those oblong sticks is the branding. I buy butter 3-5 lbs at a time for baking, and it’s whatever is cheapest. I’m not using it in recipes/baking where butterfat percentage is crucial (ie, croissants), so whatever is cheapest works for me.

My “eating” butter is usually a cultured European style block. Nothing finer than fresh bread and good butter, esp with flaky sea salt. If I lived where “gros sel” butter was readily available, I’d buy that.

You are really gonna freak out when you find out that Johnson and Johnson makes bandaids for both Walmart brand and their brand.

That's how big box does business.
