Since you appear to be a Together BR idiot, I’ll break this down to simple terms.

You pay for 10 gallons of gas but only receive 3 because your deadbeat neighbor siphoned it out of your tank because they are too busy doing drugs and destroying their own life to buy their own gas. You’d be pissed.

That’s St. George vs. Baton Rouge.

A couple of friends, us included are stalling on the fence right now with buying new homes. The St. G vote will determine if we stay in EBR or move out of parish.

We love the neighborhoods we live in, but are fed up with paying property taxes, AND private school tuition. Part of the property tax is for schools which we don’t even use.

Without that tuition, my wife and I can max out our 401k contributions and be in a better place retirement wise. And retire at a way younger age.

There are many, many people in this same position. If SG fails, the city is going to empty out and be a complete welfare state. The dipshits fighting against SG fail to realize that at least with SG they will keep some residents and revenue. If it fails they lose it all.

I wouldn’t expect a liberal to be smart enough to figure that out, though.

This is what I don’t understand regarding the opposition to SG. You can either have some revenue generating activity in EBR or just chase those producers out. But wouldn’t you rather have the producers in your area?

They would rather have 100% of $1000 instead of 1% of $1 million

They actually contract it out to private maintenance crews as the city parish does not have enough man power to handle city parish servitude along the city roads.
Some place yes HOA's pay for it while other areas they do not.
There are places in these areas which the city does maintain the sides of the roads which is their job along city roads.

Best part is seeing the City of BR taxes go up when they finally realize they cannot afford these bloated heavy retirement and debt heavy departments.

BRPD
BRFD
Constable
City Court

Then they finally have to pay their fair share for the services they use more than incorporated areas, while unicorporated areas pays for it.
DA's office
District Court
Constables office

Seems like Kingbob you guys have a lot more to lose than we do. Unicorporated areas pay for services we do not receive along with services everyone in this parish receives. Some areas use these services more than our area cough cough "BR".

Good luck with BRAF and BRAC breathing down the neck of your metro council leaders which will probably ask for a special tax if this happens to offset budget cuts.

The melts will be golden if St George becomes a city.

Let BR become the Wakanda it wants to be...but of course...they need cracker's tax dollars to make that happen.

This city was NOT like this 20 years ago. Unbelievable that it has become this.

I wasn’t old enough to pay attention at the time, but I don’t think Baker, Zachary, or even Central got this much resistance.

Zachary was incorporated in 1889 baw. We broke off our ISD in '03. There wasn't really much to argue about. Our demos weren't far from 50-50 then and now I think we are 50-50.

Central on the other hand... not sure how a bigger fight wasn't put up over that one re demos.

It would be golden if ST George forms its own city.

Then the NBR people and Together BR would want to split the City of BR and EBRP government to represent the underprivileged people better.

Then it would be lovely that the status quo in BR will be ruled by NBR.

Either way if St George becomes a city and the metro council form of government stays the same, in a way we vote for BR's mayor.

The Advocate has posted yet another anti-SG article on their FB page. It doesn't matter how many opposing articles they post, SG is going to happen. They're only assisting in proving how scared the opposition is.

Will have paid $150k of private school tuition for my two kids by the time it's all said and done...on top of the property taxes I put in for the publics.

That same $$$ invested in a retirement account over the same period would make a big fricking difference

Because Central wasn’t sending 50 million dollars a year to the parish treasury like SG is.
