Geez. The problem is that this is the new normal. Think before you say ANYTHING because you could lose your career in the blink of an eye. sigh. Absurd that we find such offense at stupid things.

Her co-anchor is a PoS. He knew she didn't mean it as a racist insult. He could have said that, and said no apology was necessary. But it is current year, and everything is racist and all white people are literal slave owners going through withdrawal, and we are never going to get past this because if half the population isn't constantly told they are victims, then there isn't anyone else to blame but themselves for their problems.

The following day, Hackett, who is African American, accepted her apology and said he wanted to take the experience as a teachable moment to his viewers.
To be honest, it sounds like he did her a solid in saying this to end the controversy.
I'm sure a lot of people other than him wanted her fired. It sounds like he helped her out in a situation that could have ended with her getting fired, which is a credit to him.

Words don’t matter. I would trade places with him right now and anyone can call me anything they want.
You don’t call black folks a gorilla. There is overly sensitive. This is not one of those times

So hold on, if any race of people looks like gorillas it’s “African- Americans.” I mean are people honestly not agreeing with this?

Networks are stupid. They make people apologize because it offended some people. Just let them be honest.
The dude looked uncomfortable up there. If I had to guess, having worked with her for a year and a half, he probably knew she didn't mean anything by it..
They should have let them get on air and she says "yesterday I said something that offended some people. We aired a segment about a baby gorilla. I said that he was cute, kind of like my co-anchor. Some people assumed I was referring to my co-worker as a gorilla because he is black. I can assure you, that was not the case at all. I said the baby gorilla is cute, kind of like my co-anchor, who is cute. I just wanted to clear this up for those who I was referring to the race of my co-anchor.
Then the co-anchor says "As my co-anchor I can assure you she didn't make the comment that she did in away that was racial. I didn't even think nothing of it until people complained, but that's because I know who she is and know her intentions isn't anything cruel spirited"..
Something along those lines... Instead of apologizing. People are idiots.

It literally wasn’t. It was generic tv anchor banter. Just a funny coincidence.

Just to be fair, I was literally quoting a news article guys...I do not interpret the comment as racist. To me, racism requires intent

Let's get real. She wouldn't have said that to a white co-anchor. I mean seriously do you think she would have said that to a white man.

WTF woman?
It's stupid that this very specific animal comparison has been deemed racist. If it was an adorable dog and she said it, nothing would have happened. Obviously she wasn't trying to be racist.
All that said, because I don't live under a rock, you couldn't pay me to make that comparison on live TV.

You get real. If the station brass thought she was really a racist, she’d have been fired forthwith. It was a blooper. Things happen on live TV. Not everything is racist or racial, despite what you delicate little libs want to believe.

Arnold Schwarzenegger looks like a gorilla.
Maybe that's why he's named Schwarzenegger.

I can totally imagine some local news anchor doing exactly that.
