Call me cruel, but the feelings of the Danes don't really register with me.

Hell, I find it difficult to care about what insults people from friggin' New Hampshire

Because there is more to this.
No way is he cancelling a planned US gov trip to a ally over just this.

What if this was going to be a surprise and the IC over hears and ruins the occasion?

Some people have zero concept of the process of negotiations.

In fact, I would say MOST people have zero concept of it.

This behavior by Trump is bizarre at best, and not an act of statesmanship. The request to buy Greenland was an off the wall position and it is not unreasonable for Denmark to say no as it has done before. To cancel a trip to a NATO ally which has had soldiers lose their lives supporting our efforts in the Middle East and abroad sends a temper tantrum signal that does not meet the standard of the leader of the free world.

frick Denmark. Who gives a shite if we cancel a meeting with them after they called out our president in public.

I say this as someone who routinely goes to Copenhagen to work with a business partner over there.

Denmark needs us, we don't need them. This is a simple business decision made by Trump and sorry if he hurt their 'feelings' by cancelling a goodwill meeting after their PM showed her TDS.

Anyone want to show me why I should change my opinion?

If you find that insulting, then you're a pussy. I don't find any world leader postponing a non-vital trip to the US insulting for any reason. O. Angela Merkel doesn't want to visit D.C. because of tariff policy? I couldn't give a frick.

This is like the Danish PM saying, "hey we want to buy Guam" (or insert a random territory)

DJT: You're joking right? Sorry it's not for sale.

Danish PM: Then I'm not visiting your country!!

Most of the world outside Moscow and North Korea cannot wait for this to be over, comedy gold aside.

He got laughed at by a woman in charge, and didn't want to go over there when Obama was following him by a couple weeks

They would have ridiculed him and treated Obama like a God, and we all know he can't handle that

If that discussion was the sole purpose for the visit, then I’m glad he didn’t waste time and money on a fools errand.

I just heard Trump on the Rush radio program say that he was offended by Denmark's PM's use of the word,"absurd" when referencing the sale of Greenland. He says the sale has been mentioned by other presidents and brought up the name Truman.
He said her flippant use of the word absurd was not professional.
In the light of this new information, I'm willing to soften my original stance.

I want to buy Greenland as much as the next guy, but you are exactly right. Whose parents on here taught them the best way to be a human was to rely SOLELY on the power dynamic between the parties to govern your interactions? "Conservatives" used to believe in things like dignity, grace and respect. Displaying such is not weak - it is actually even stronger.

Think that was definitely Trump's point.

There are very few people and countries who have the clout to stiff a first world country like this and Trump was just reminding the danish that he and the United States are one of them.
