I'm generally a fan of what Trump does, but canceling the trip to Denmark

because they won't consider selling Greenland? This seems petty and I would find it insulting as a Dane.
Anyone want to show me why I should change my opinion?

The PM completely shot down the idea. Why spend the next two weeks allowing the media to focus on a “loss?” That is what would happen

There was nothing else to talk about with a tiny country like Denmark. Were we going to discuss tariffs on Legos?

Mankind is getting too soft and sensitive. We should just go old school and take Greenland from Denmark.

I'm pretty sure the meeting to visit Denmark was scheduled well in advance of Trump mentioning buying Greenland.

Priorities. If Greenland was on the agenda then Trump clears his schedule to go meet. Once it was off the table it becomes “I’ll come see you when My schedule opens up.

So civility and courtesy should be based on the size of the country visited and what they can do for us?

The Danes are nothing but Vikings that raped and pillaged and stole land from the natives anyway. Their entire country was built on the backs of others, so we should not show them any respect.

That is how this works, right?

Trump should go to Greenland - with the Atlantic fleet on the horizon and ask the PM if he is sure he won’t sell because it looks like a storm on the horizon....

It’s almost as if we have a highly successful businessman running the country and not a politician.

Yes. When there is a whole world full of problems to deal with, invest time wisely, where it will be most effective.

Exactly, he does not approach things from a “political” angle but rather from a “what is best for America” and that is why the left totally goes off the rails by everything he says and does.

Not going is textbook "Art of the Deal."

Oh, you want to publicly shut me down? Well then, you're not getting all that global PR of a presidential visit. Get back with me when you can learn to keep your mouth shut.

Trump should have kept this on the low so as not embarrass the PM. Should have tactfully raised the subject: I think what we are talking about is Greenland becoming a U.S. protectorate to Russia and China out. Something like 40-50% of Danish GDP is going to Greenland. They might have been open to it if Trump hadn't acted like a bull in a china shop.

I still don't know why he planned to meet with anyone from Denmark in the first place.

You clearly have not read Art of the Deal.

It could have been handled better but it is laughable that they cannot even come up with 2% GDP for NATO and are sending 40-50% GDP to Greenland which has a population of like 50,000 people...
