You are right. Your mistake is assuming this is the end of the show. This is Barr and Trump and Co. showing that they aren't on a witchhunt like Comey, Mueller and Weissman. They are trying to show that what is about to happen isn't political.
Comey is going to get TORCHED for lying to the FISA court. All of this will be timed to make sure Trump is reelected. We just have to wait for the rest of the show.

IMO the DOJ is letting his "small" stuff go without clear cut and obvious evidence and will nail Comey on FISA abuses.
The DOJ is just picking their battles IMO. Once the charges are made, the DOJ case against Comey is has to be lock-tight. No way they lose it. The DOJ only has one shot. It has to be quick, substantial, overwhelming and decisive. They can't allow the MSM and Dems to split hairs in the public sphere during the trial phase and allow Comey to become a sympathetic character.

Comey is a bright lawyer. I always felt, as he readily admitted the leaks, he well might have a legal angle. Turns out he did.
The FISA case is a different bird, and Comey's response to it is indicative IMO.

I knew it. Deep down, i held out hope that justice would be served, but knew this would happen. I’ve lost hope in the DOJ as it apparently infested with political hacks that all have dirt on each other. Good thing is, if people keep getting zero punishment for breaking the law, it allows others to do the same. Let’s all quit paying taxes. They can’t put us all in jail, and need taxpayers to fund their corruption.
