Where the hell did they get this from? If this is true my best friend will get 3' of water in his home. He got 7' in 16

So it'll be better this time.

They are projections, and they are based on estimates of how much water will fall over the area.

They could be correct, or they could be an underestimate, or they could be completely wrong. Absolutely no one knows how or where the rain will fall right now.

The real question is... why are you watching WBRZ? WAFB is far superior in weather coverage.

Did he rebuild in the same place at the same elevation? (Just curious)

Sam Kinison had an interesting philosophy for situations such as this.

I'm like anyone else on this planet -- I'm very moved by world hunger. I see the same commercials, with those little kids, starving, and very depressed. I watch those kids and I go, “F***, I know the FILM crew could give this kid a sandwich!” There's a director five feet away going, “DON'T FEED HIM YET! GET THAT SANDWICH OUTTA HERE! IT DOESN'T WORK UNLESS HE LOOKS HUNGRY!!!” But I'm not trying to make fun of world hunger. Matter of fact, I think I have the answer. You want to help stop world hunger? Stop sending them food. Don't send them another bite, send them U-Hauls. Send them a guy that says, "You know, we've been coming here giving you food for about 35 years now and we were driving through the desert, and we realized there wouldn't BE world hunger if you people would live where the FOOD IS! YOU LIVE IN A DESERT!! UNDERSTAND THAT? YOU LIVE IN A F***ING DESERT!! NOTHING GROWS HERE! NOTHING'S GONNA GROW HERE! Come here, you see this? This is sand. You know what it's gonna be 100 years from now? IT'S GONNA BE SAND!! YOU LIVE IN A F***ING DESERT! We have deserts in America, we just don't live in them, a**holes!"
-Sam Kinison

RIP Sam.

Did he have flood insurance in 16?

If not, did he purchase it since then?

If not, well, you know.

This will be a very underwhelming rain storm. The meteorologists have done remarkably well in putting the fear in everyone and will all be forgiven when everyone sees how moderate the rain fall will be compared to their doom and gloom predictions.

People live in a flood plain then are shocked by flooding?

I don’t know why taxpayers subsidize this behavior.

This forecast is based on the QPF (rainfall) forecast from the WPC. That one sets the heavy rain over Baton Rouge. So from the rain projections this is closer to a worst case.

That band might be east or west of BR, so it can be lower. Depends on what falls.

But also realize there is potential for higher rainfall amounts than projected in the main rain band.

7’ is a lot of water. Maybe he should have moved after the first flood?

I got 9.5ft in my business on Florida in 16. Spent the whole day moving stuff up thinking it was 38ft. Now have to go back in tomorrow and move all this shite to the rooftops!

We moved everything we couldn’t replace upstairs at my parents’ house in St. Amant. They got 4-5 ft in 2016, which is the only time their home had ever flooded at all. We wouldn’t be in any danger at all if the parish would get off their arses and plug the couple miles long gap in the Laurel Ridge levee. It makes no sense. There’s all these levees along the Amite/Diversion canal, but there’s a large gap so the water can go around them. They were supplying to build it decades ago and never did.
