I really am tired of the stupidity! We are served useless paper straws in plastic cups! If we are looking to conserve plastic can we at least have paper cups and bring the plastic straws back! #bringbackplasticstraws

Plastic straw = 0.42 grams. Plastic cup averages between 350 and 480 grams.

Shows the stupidity of liberal ideas they ban a much smaller straw than the cup and paper straws suck

It’s not about the weight. They want to ban straws because they say wildlife are ingesting the long, narrow straws.

Because Landry is saying this, I will reflexively take the counter argument......only because it's Jeff Landy

I've never seen anyone set this out, but I'd like to see a visual illustration of how much compacted landfill space every plastic straw ever produced would take up. I have to think it is all but completely negligible and insignificant in the grand scheme of everything.

It's a lose/lose.

By their logic, plastic can be ingested by animals. Paper causes them to have to cut down more trees.

They'd rather the population be happily drinking our own piss from broken Mason jars.

Ever notice that the “sacrifices” leftists want are so minuscule? Their “sacrifices” are always convenient and minimally disruptive.

No one can call themselves “environmentally concerned” and still have HVAC in my view. It’s one of the largest consumers of energy, and for the most part—optional. Yet... you never hear of “HVAC shaming”. Just don’t use a straw.

More evidence being “green” is more about imposing power on others and virtue signaling than anything.

shite is so dumb. Burger restaurant in Des Moines, IA , switched to serving their milkshakes with paper straws and it was disgusting. Started to breakdown less than 1/3rd of the way through and was undrinkable.

If a straw from the middle of Iowa found its way to any ocean, we’d have much bigger issues with sanitation and infrastructure to worry about.

Liberals just love activating around “causes” that make themselves feel good because they “did something”

As the rural areas of China and India dump huge truckloads of trash into their rivers every 30 seconds.....

hmmm. 480g is more than 1 pound! You must have a typo there.

The world doesn't have a plastic problem. Asia has a waste management problem.

Unless you physically go throw a straw in a river or the gulf, the odds of a plastic straw from Louisiana ending up in the ocean is almost zero.

The real problem is trashy people throwing them on the ground or out the car window. If they are properly put away in trash cans they don't end up where they can do any harm.

I literally weighed a plastic cup earlier today. It weighed 10 grams. 350 grams might be a yeti cup.
