Not so subtle racism in this thread ... and people wonder why Louisiana is moving backwards.

You do know what Kip Holden looks like, right?

Good thing we built a multi gazillion dollar public library though.

The library system is separately funded by a property tax that the people voted for. The tax will levied and you will pay it no matter what the library board does with the money. Not paying the tax is not an option.

Would you prefer they steal the money, waste it on non-library things, or try to build and fund cutting edge libraries wherever they can?

People born in Baton Rouge are fricking stupid. Vote for a tax, then bitch and whine when the entity that gets the tax visibly uses the tax dollars for what the people voted for.

Downtown BR is a lot like what I would
think downtown Pyongyang is like.

I never noticed it being enforced. The sell open containers

Yea, I talked to a cop working down there about it one time. Although he said he didn't care one way or another regarding all of third street, he recommended that I keep the open containers to within the stage area if I wanted to be safe.

Broome is the worst kind of Democrat, IMO.

Not only does she follow many of the traditional anti-business, more social programs mindset. She’s also a religious conservative with things like open container laws.

Not to mention she generally has no clue what she’s doing. Kip was smart enough to understand when things were over his head to let his CAO run the show.

ETA: not a huge fan of magpie to begin with but the few times I went to the downtown location, the service was horrendous.

Didn’t her moronic blubbering arse manage to screw that up too? By making the open container thing an issue?

Not sure the exact rule but they sold alcohol at live@5. Are people really not going downtown because they can’t drink for that minute walk in between bars?

Well, yeah ... a lot of these comments show that racism is somewhat surface level today.

When is the next Mayoral election? I lose track now that I don’t live in BR.

What are the chances she’s re-elected?

It was great when 3rd street was a miniature Bourbon Street. You had a lot of night owls hanging out.

Then they changed the open container rules and had BRPD get a little more aggressive.

I still love B&T's as well as Happy's but the appeal of Downtown BR has worn off for me.

I think my favorite is when he wore a full LSU baseball uniform and watched a regional (or super regional) game from the dugout.

As much as I hate city bar, if you close that what else do you have down there? Happys and that’s it?

City Bar just recently spent huge amounts of money to renovate their facility. I hope it catches on this Fall

Downtown is hopping at lunch time. But then dies out after 5.
