Have a Stihl BR340 blower that has been solid, even up to a few weeks back. Went to use it Sunday and it started but wouldn't let me throttle up without sounding like it was dying (and then did die after running for a bit).

Almost like it was stuck in choke and when I went to pull throttle it sounded like it was getting flooded, if that makes sense? I emptied gas tank, cleaned out carburetor a couple times (did find some gunk in carb), but it's still running the same way / will start then will run until I try to throttle up or until it just runs itself out without throttle at all.

Any thoughts? Was going to maybe just buy replacement carb parts online, but I don't even know if that is what it is? TIA

You just need to clean that carb very good. Be careful separating the pieces so you don't tear those paper diaphragms and gaskets.

Once you get the carb apart, spray every hole you see with carb cleaner more than once then blow out all the holes with an air gun. There's a little screen inside the carb, make sure it's clean. Reassemble and you should be fine.

Before you do all that make sure the in tank fuel filter isn't stopped up and none of the fuel lines are cracked although Stihl doesn't have a reputation for cheap fuel line.

I had a similar issue with an echo stick edger. Would just bog when I went 100% throttle.

I bought a replacement carb kit off Amazon for $15. New fuel lines, carb, spark plug, air filter, gaskets, etc.

Work flawlessly now. Took me about 15 mins to change out.

What he said...

All I’ll add is change the spark plug too.

there's 2 fuel lines , one has a fuel filter on it. Make sure the filter isn't clogged and the line isn't cracked. I change out 2 stroke fuel lines with that yellow fuel line every 3-4 years just because and a new filter as well.

Or you can just get the entire kit for under $20 including a new carb if you want. LINK

OK, you got me.

It's actually four words. See them on the label of the product image I posted? The words printed in big bold white letters?

Sounds like carb to me also. Can clean or change but I can tell you best thing I ever did for my weed eater and blower was start using Trufuel. It’s been a few years and I haven’t changed changed a carb ever since and they start up right away every time.

Probably got junk in the carb clogging the jets. Even with Stabil I've still been "Ethanoled"....Lucky for me there's a station that sells non-ethanol gas...no issues so far using that. With a blower you could probably use TruFuel or something like it that's premixed.

There's a little screen inside the carb

This screen is right behind the fuel plunger bulb (if that's what you call it). I had the same problem..It was clogged and I had to clean it out twice then it was fine after that...
Just take the four screws off that hold the plunger bracket. You will see the screen that is pushed into it's hole. Get a toothpick to take it out. Clean it and put push it back into it's hole.

Also...one of the best things my Dad ever introduced me to: OxyAcetylene torch tip cleaners! They work wonders for cleaning out jets in carbs.

Thanks for the responses - I narrowed it down to the filter in the gas tank. Took that off and tried cleaning it but couldn't get it clean enough, so I left it off and blower runs like a top. Ordering the Carb kit so I'll get a new filter and have parts if this ever happens again! $17 ebay

You can never go wrong with Stihl or Echo.

The bulb on those are notorious for cracking. Make sure it does not have a crack and is letting air in.

Make sure the spark arrester is not clogged up. It’s easy to check and doesn’t take but a minute
