He has now officially changed the wording of Lords prayer. I mean c'mon, the LORDS prayer? Who does he think he is, God?

We already had this thread and frankly, your take on it is as stupid as the last one.
The Lord didn't speak English. No one who wrote down what the Lord said spoke English.

Maybe the Lord texted him and requested the change?

You got a link to that?
And FWIW, there are several versions of the Lord's prayer in the Bible. Luke reciting it vs. Mathew vs. Paul are all slightly different variations.

I'm not really happy with this Pope but this in particular did not bother me.
Everything in the Bible is a translation anyway.
God would never lead anyone into temptation in the first place. So, it kinda makes sense.

Anyone have any insight on why the thread from yesterday got whacked?

A comically large number of Christians seem totally unaware that the KJV isn't the literal exact words of the original writers. Or, for that matter, NO English translation is
Which, of course is also a reflection of the fact that a comically large number of people apparently think all languages are word for word directly translatable.

Yeah, thats fine and all, but how many popes have they gone through that didn't feel the need to tell us how God wanted that line to be read?

Pope Francis has officially approved a change to one key phrase in the prayer which will see the line “lead us not into temptation” altered to “do not let us fall into temptation”.
The latter is probably more accurate. Because:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
I mean, God will not lead us into temptation. That's the devil. So "do not let us fall into temptation" seems more accurate.
"And lead us not into temptation" is probably the old English interpenetration.
I'm okay with the change but will continue to say it the old way because that is the way I learned.

This is why you never let Jesuits run anything important

Let's be honest anyway.
Catholics don't give a frick about sinning or temptation.
They treat Grace as if it's a "get out of good behavior free" card.
Jesus supposedly died FOR your sins..........but Catholics treat it like he died SO THAT THEY MAY sin.
