Anybody else noticed that Roxette from striking Vipers was the same actress who played Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy 2?

The VR one was good, but I thought it ended kind of bland. But it was an interesting concept.
The second one was good until they revealed the hostage takers motive. It felt like a bit of a stretch. And Topher Grace was God awful.
The Miley Cyrus one was horrible IMO. Maybe the dumbest Black Mirror episode I've ever seen.
This show has derailed unfortunately.

Worst season of Black Mirror. Like another poster said, it seems like they wasted all that they had left on Bandersnatch and Bandersnatch wasn’t even that good. May be the end of Black Mirror as we know it

I agree with you. Can’t believe I read this thread and see people saying the Ashley Too one was the only good one. It didn’t even feel like a BM ep. it was incredibly dumb and far fetched I thought. Felt more like a shitty movie on SyFy. There wasn’t even a lesson or theme with the technology, it was more like a conduit to tell the shitty story of a crazy management team controlling their money source.
Anyway, I liked ep 1. Middle of the road episode I thought, but I shouldn’t be surprised that this board couldn’t get past the homosexuality component

Episode 2 was solid. I liked the message and theme, kind of hits home because I often check my phone on road trips out of boredom.
Episode 3 was yikes.
Overall, definitely the worst season. 2 middle of the road episodes and one of the worst.

If you throw Bandersnatch in with this season, by far the worst season ever. Thought they were all kind of boring. The tech stuff was just nothing out of this world. VR, Amazon Echo as a pop star, and a distracting app that hooks you. Wow. That really got my attention. Maybe not the tech, but how they used it for the stories. The Vipers was the only one with a half-way decent idea.

Season 5 felt nothing like a season of Blake Mirror. Felt like a cheap rip off. These 3 are easily in the bottom of the entire series.

I'm avoiding spoilers but I did catch Ashley Too last night. It was...meh. Even before bandersnatch came out I was getting worried that BM could only go to the "increased technology and some of its fricked up consequences" well so many times before it either got stale or they ran out of ideas.
I started out intruiged by A2 when the doll made an appearance but overall it just fell flat. It didn't "feel" like black mirror, it just felt like some random TV episode or short movie that has a talking doll in it. And the ending just kinda..ended. Abruptly. Also in what stadium or arena in the world can you drive from the street onto the actual concert floor during a show? Cmon. SEason 4 had some stinkers but overall still an enjoyable season top to bottom. This season only has half the episodes of S4 and so far it's not starting all that promising.

I am pretty much with you on your evaluation. I thought Episode 1 was the best.

Didn't read this thread yet but just wanted to drop by to say that season 5 was absolute dogshit in its entirety.

Just started watching from season 1. On season 3 now. White Bear and White Christmas are my favorite so far. I remember reading about this show on here when it first got popular a few years ago and somebody said “it’s not really a binge show, it’ll leave you feeling depressed after if you watch to many in a row”. That’s some true shite, I watched The Entire History of You, Be Right Back, and White Bear all in a row the other night and was like alright i think I’m good for the night I’m going to bed early lol. Great show though

It would not let me watch 1 or 2, so I watched 3rd ep forst (Ashley 2)

I liked the other seasons much better.
Wouldn't be a season of Black Mirror without that Irma Thomas song in one of the episodes.

I enjoyed ep 1, I thought it presented a challenging yet realistic possibility for the future of virtual reality. Ep 2 was fine but a bit preachy and not that black mirror futuristic. Ep 3, however, is just plain bad. Like really bad - not up to black mirror standards in the slightest.

At least Nosedive had an interesting concept on why people were obsessed with their phones...Smithereens was like a fancied up Afterschool Special. No higher idea at all than yeah, don't do that.

They should have just made them gay though.
Yes, and from the beginning. This was kind of the problem with episode 1. In the first part 11 years prior, there is no inclination they are gay so..... All friendships have an undercurrent of homosexuality? Is that the point?
That and sexual identity is the most complex thing ever, when it really isn't....it isn't SJW...it's just overwhelmingly progressive in approach. And not in a good way seeing as the ending kind of celebrates a marriage now built on infidelity both ways. It painted them as happy, and put together, where the usual end to Black Mirror is a haunting pathos.
A better end for this particular episode would have shown them ruining the kid's life because of this arrangement. THAT would have been a Black Mirror episode, but they took the politically progressive approach that sexuality ruling lives is the moral and right thing to do. Everyone is happy with what they get. Just a lame ending that doesn't challenge the story it sets up.
Terrible and politically heavy handed episode.

Do they hold up as good as classic BM that we're used to or has the quality taken a dip?
I truly cannot believe how pathetic this season was. This was one of my favorite shows and I couldn’t even finish the Miley Cyrus episode

I don’t even think it was making a point on sexual identity. I think some people see it that way because they are always searching for the “SJW angle” to be triggered by.
To me, it was more so a realistic lesson on the consequences of VR and sex. VR is going to get more and more advanced, and so to the sexual stimulation you can get from it. It’s like porn on cocaine, and it can absolutely wreck a marriage because you have avenues for more exciting sexual experiences that aren’t “really” cheating, all the while you are neglecting your SO.
I actually think that’s why they didn’t make them gay. If they made them gay, it’s just a story of a man having an affair. This story shows us a new technology and basically a new phenomenon - a new kind of affair.

Such a disappointment. That's about all I care to say. Just a big time letdown for a show that usually brings its A game for 80% or so of the episodes in a season.
