So health insurance premium increases over the decade of Obamacare implementation and boomers reaching peak medical care age in the state with the fastest growing number of 65+ year old population increases is your example?

And even better. They realized it didn’t work so they rescinded the law.

Let me give you a real world example of how this has played out in other states: Florida Insurance Companies: This tort reform bill will lower health insurance premiums and the cost of healthcare by reducing lawsuits and payouts !! Florida legislators: Sounds great...let’s do it! 10 years later... Florida Supreme Court: There is no evidence to suggest whatsoever that the law resulted in a reduction in insurance premiums or healthcare costs. In fact, they’ve gone up. So, we strike down the law. You guys are being sold a bill of goods and are celebrating the insurance companies who are doing it to you. Have fun in jury duty!
Did ObamaCare not increase health insurance premiums in FL like it did everywhere else?

And jury duty is scary. Try more harder, dipshit.

I'm a defense attorney and the ONLY people this legislation will do is increase the bottom line for insurance companies. And your rates will not go down. Trust me. You're living in la la land if you think the insurance companies are going to lower rates. They will find something else about Louisiana to "justify" keeping the rates where they are or raising them.

So yours is an opinion. Not based on any facts other than what you think.

So, then you want to ensure the jury threshold in Louisiana remains the highest in the country? If your only reason for being against this is that "there is nothing concrete that it will lower rates", shouldn't you at least want to see the legislative barriers that keep rates high disappear?

It's like saying "taxes will never be reduced dramatically, so i'm going to keep on voting Democrat and guarantee they never go down".

How many of the frivolous fraudulent injury cases would go to trial in your opinion?

Not many frivolous cases go to trial now, those are the ones you actually want before a judge in most cases.

Yeah, right. 'Member when Mike Foster's tort reform lowered our insurance rates? I'm currently enjoying the lowest rates in the country!

Nor should anyone. It’s an important social function.

However, I think calling on 13 people to spend 3-5 days at the courthouse and disrupting their productivity at work is a cost to society. If the jury threshold is set so low, I think you are costing society a lot more than you are benefiting it by asking jurors to give up a week to decide whether Ms. Jones is entitled to $10,000 or $15,000.

Anybody that thinks tort reform would positively affect insurance rates is living in a fantasy world.

No way in hell. Insurance rates don't go down.

JBE being forced to choose between protecting his trial lawyer buddies and lowering insurance rates for Louisiana?

What determines going before a judge vs. a jury and does the proposed legislation affect both?

The next talking point from the insurance companies will be that rates can't go down much because LA has so many uninsured drivers on the road.

There is a happy medium for tort reform on both sides of the table.

Legit thought this was about tortillas prior to opening. Only homemade tortillas should be served in restaurants.
