Even for all the finale's faults, Jon's last scenes have stuck

This is truly one of the most tragic character arcs for someone who is basically supposed to be the hero of an entire series.
The guy is literally the only rightful king to the entire continent but was raised as a second class kid by the guy who was supposed to look after him.
Most of his own family looked upon him with desdain yet all he ever did was try to follow the "noble" ways, and all he got to show for it was a banishment.
He murders one love and the other, his true love, fricking gets arrowed to death in front of him.
He gets shite on for years, but finally gains respect from a few, fleeting moments, then basically unites two worlds... Then gets killed for it.
He then gets resurrected, only to become a timid ruler In a terrible situation. Then he basically gets usurped by his own moves because he's the only one who is willing to see that ultimate death is coming to everyone.
And then, when all the cards are on the table, his own family goes along with his banishment...again!
His last scene with Arya and the F-u to the civilized world is really the only thing out of the episode that really resonated.
I just hope we one day get a Jon and Arya show, but I doubt it will happen until all the acting gigs run out for all the stars.
Jon could finally be a settled, happy man, with willing children and a wife, but then he recieves a beaten raven scroll from Arya that she has found the secret to the world or something and Ned Stark is there, but is in trouble and needs Jon.
He gets Tormund and a couple new characters and they set sail on a specific path to Arya's far west whereabouts. It could either be a series of movies or a show.
Then maybe he could get a proper, noble ending.

Jon should have beaten the shite out of grey worm, taken the throne, instituted the electoral college, then abdicated it for a vote before choosing to return to the north
Then have Bran roll away with the victory
That would have been my one major change to the finale.

I just can’t understand what those guys were thinking:
How should Jon kill Dany?
What if he just walks up and stabs her? End scene.
That sounds AWESOME!!!!

I don't think a lot of thinking was involved in this season.

How can a secondary character with like grey worm gets to dictate Jon, a main character’s faith? It’s sad cause I can’t even call grey worm a dick.

I don’t mind the way Jon’s story ended. Many of us wanted him to be the king. But he said constantly that he didn’t want that. He wanted to live beyond the wall. He did his service in his mind killing Dany.

Jon is the Frodo of the story.

Even worse, grey worm dictates Jon’s punishment, then promptly leaves for another continent. Nobody stops to think, Hey Jon, this dickless count is leaving with his army, never to return......just hang out here and once he’s across the horizon, your good.

Yeah it was tragic alright. He could have been burning cities and ruling the world with his Dragon Slay Queen instead he killed her to go live up in the woods with his Dog and Ginger boyfriend.

I'm just glad that Ghost knows that Jon thinks he's still a good boy.

Really only Sansa, whose own family knew she was a brat, and Catelyn, who thought he was the result of her husband cheating on her.

I agree. And then he should've rode Drogon. And told King's Landing they can sort out their own problems. He's seen to many deaths. His last scene is out beyond the wall sitting next to ghost as Drogon lays behind them.

My take on this is different. It was negotiated with Grey Worm that Jon would be banished to the Black forever. Grey Worm doesn’t know the story of the Black and they have nothing to defend. Tyrion knows Jon doesn’t want to be king and actually want to live beyond the wall.
It was a ploy to free Jon and place him where he wants to be and ease the tension of GW. That’s why Jon immediately lives the wall and travels with the wildlings.
Maybe I’m giving the writers too much credit. But I felt this was actually done right. Sansa queen of Winterfell. Bran king and Jon gets want he wants. How many times does Jon say he DOESN’T want to be king?

That's how I saw it as well.

That's great, if it weren't for the pesky Dornish and Ironborn who wanted him punished, too, because they were allied with Daenarys. They would have gone to war alongside the Unsullied if Jon got off scot-free. They did not get on boats headed to Naath.
Yara says this directly at the Kingsmoot and says to let the Unsullied give Jon what he deserves. Arya threatens to cut Yara's throat if she talks about killing Jon again.
Further, Greyworm didn't dictate the punishment. It was a compromise. It's why Tyrion talked about the compromise when he delivered Jon his sentence.
I'm convinced that most of you that shite on the show every opportunity you get never really WATCHED the show.

Ditto. I’ve thought a lot about Jon’s character this season and he wouldn’t GAF about being the one to take out the NK, he’s just glad the living won. He didn’t want the iron throne, he just wanted his family avenged. His entire character arc is honor and nobility and doing the right thing. He’s happy to go have rest north of the wall and forget about the politics of the 6 kingdoms.
I think I was initially upset because it was depicted as a punishment but upon further thinking it’s a blessing for him.

Right. Jon made it clear ad nauseum that he “didn’t want it.” Didn’t want to be king of anything. Maybe there’s a lesson here that if you strive for nothing, you get nothing.
