Sounds like you miss being in college to me.

Yeah, I’m hearing a lot of reflection on your youth (college days). Your perspective changes as you get older. And not for the better.
Believe me.
Believe me.

I'm on my first rotation overseas and every time I check my timeline its photos of people having crawfish boils

Sounds like you miss college not Louisiana.

Being stationed in Kansas I can absolutely confirm that, I try to drive or fly back home every 4 day weekend I can. The food, women and weather all suck.

I don't like it. Traffic sucks, politicians suck, roads suck, restaurants are degrading in quality, LSU is turning SJW, movie tavern took away my boondock saints nachos and still put it on a board in the hall to remind me....

If you can't enjoy living in San Diego then the problem is you.
ETA: I don't miss Louisiana at all. I don't plan to ever return to that shithole of a state unless it's for funerals of people I am related to or know.

I just don't get it. This has to be the most overrated food in existence. I'm not denying the get together surrounding it but the food is so bleh. So much work for a most unrewarding food.

You miss BR and college. I get it as I do too

I just came back from San Diego
I couldn't imagine how lame one must be to be sitting there and missing Louisiana. SD is about as good as it gets in the U.S.

Born and raised in NOLA and moved out of Louisiana 9 years ago. I was actually itching to leave and have not looked back since.
Call me crazy, but I like living in a place where things actually work, construction gets finished, you feel safe, the roads and infrastructure is actually up to date and weather is great 9 months a year. For me, once I noticed the fundamental flaws of Louisiana, I realized that there are problems that will take generations to fix if they get fixed at all.
Good gumbo though I guess?

Sadly, I think he means San Diego.
Some people just short circuit once they leave The Boot.

My wife and I love it here in Redlands (we've been here since 1988). We have made some good conservative friends (firefighters, and other regular folks we met at boy scouts when our boys were growing up). I miss the food, family, boating, and duck hunting the most. (Damn the ocean is cold here in California.) We have a great pastor at The Packinghouse-Calvary Chapel.

Amen. The ocean is almost warm in the summer too.
