LSU athletics needs to hire a PR firm.
Whether right or wrong decision was made in this particular case, they often don’t do a good job of selling their story.
While I disagree with the action LSU took, I understand it, and it could have been packaged and presented to the fanbase better and mitigated some of the backlash.
But yet again, for the 3rd or 4th time since 2016, LSU comes off looking bad in the eyes of many people when they really aren’t the bad guy ... that’s a PR problem.
Prime example... 2 statements this morning. On its face and in reality, LSU is absolutely in the right to want to hear their enployee say I’m innocent. No reasonable person would disagree. Seems logical and reasonable. But just compare the tone of the 2 statements ... one party looks like they’re bullying a family member and the other looks somewhat reasonable and sympathetic. LSU fails time and time again at these PR battles.

Probably, because they are releasing info through standard channels without going through an authorized spokesman.
Facts are crude and usually off putting, particularly if released in a clumsy manner.
I just think most people here think it's the Administrations job to support the coach 100%, and that's just not the case. It's a business, and a public university with lots of stakeholders.
I hope Wade is back and think he will be.

THIS is the reason he's not talking. He doesnt know what else they have. But it has nothing to do with the possibility that he may be called as an adverse witness by the defense at a trial where he hasn't even been subpoenaed.
IMO he's hurting himself. He's letting the narrative be written by Dawkins and the press. He should at LEAST have his attorney speaking on his behalf.
If more tapes come out later, he'll he hurt whether he defends himself now or not.
Plus with the OLOL scandal breaking, he no doubt has dirt on LSU. He can leverage this against LSU in settlement negotiations and to tell LSU to STFU.

What's disgraceful is you slamming a coach who just won the SEC Championship in year 2 of his tenure. A coach who recruited agressively to try and keep up with other programs and uplift an LSU basketball program out the gutter. A coach who found a way for a team full of highly talented players to coexist and thrive under his direction. A coach who brought his team even closer together after one of their teammates was murdered just before the season started. A coach who understood that Smart was a hometown talent who was vital to his 1st recruiting class and its success.

First, define "damn strong offer"... I can't seem to find what the monetary value is. Depending on context, it might be a lot, it might not be anything we assume.
Second, list the elite superstar players Will Wade has brought to the program. You know, the lottery picks. The sure first round picks. Those guys you would expect to be most likely to receive bags of cash, if paying players is actually a thing.
Now, is what is being reported, does that sound bad? Yep, sure does. Where's it coming from? The guy on trial who's trying to spread blame everywhere? Being fed to media types who want publicity and clicks? Hmm.
Sounds like a great reason to burn it all down. Because it sounds, from a distance, like a distasteful thing might be going down, out of context.

He didn't hide behind attorneys either. The FBI also investigated the Cam issue as well fwiw. Cam was proactive in clearing his name, was cooperative and was cleared by the NCAA within a couple of days of being suspended.
