Nope. I just don't know why you'd deny it when everyone knows.

Um...yes? I'm actually looking forward to your rebuttal. Tell me how Garbage and Hole are iconic 90s bands.

Manipulating Bucky and playing into the power struggles between Cap and Tony were essential to this whole story. And I appreciated the subtle nature of someone who is "normal" being able to do that to them rather than someone like Thanos who can only force them to work together.
Zemo won, but it was the irony of some random guy from the office being the most powerful supervillain

When you're talking about rock in the 90s with female leads, Garbage, Hole and No Doubt are probably all top five, no question. Could throw in the Cranberries, 4 Non Blondes, maybe Veruca Salt.

First off, that's not exactly what the critic said. Here's the quote again:"Its mid-'90s setting gives the film retro flair, and its girl-power soundtrack, blasting Garbage and Hole, will win over any '90s girl's heart."
So there's really two components: iconic 90s bands and girl-power. With that caveat... how the hell is Garbage and Hole NOT iconic 90s bands?
First off, both bands sold millions of copies and their lifespan was almost entirely within the 90s. Both bands broke up in the early aughts, having flamed out in popularity in the late 90s. They are 90s bands in that they are confined almost entirely to that decade.
Shirley Manson was THE It Girl of the 90s. Coupled with a band that included Butch vig, one of the pre-eminent producers of the era, Garbage was a huge band with an iconic front woman and a distinct sound. You know a Garbage song almost immediately. No one sounds like them.
Hole is one of the great grunge bands of the era, and Courtney Love was sort of famous. She also had a look that became the default uniform of the 90s alternachick. Baby doll dresses and combat boots.
Along with Liz Phair, I would say the three of them were the dominant trio of female alternative rock heroes (you could argue Alanis, but she's more of a one-album wonder, and a bit more mainstream). If I were putting together a 90s female alternative soundtrack, those are the first three artists I would use (along with some Elastica, Bikini Kill, the Muffs, and Seven Year Bitch for some more obscure but alt bona fides).

Oh well for sure, but why on earth would they reduce themselves to just bands with female leads?

More power to ya man. I just think that if they're pulling songs from those bands, then the soundtrack won't even be close to as stellar as the Guardians movies, and don't believe anyone would name any of those bands off the top of their head when asked to list iconic 90s bands or musical acts in general.

The same reason you usually play hard rock with male leads for most male-lead action movies. Female rock singers are usually pretty distinct, especially your Mansons and Loves, and it adds to the effect.
It doesn't have to be girl power, it can just lend the right atmosphere if the interior voice of the main character, especially their gender, is reflected in a song that becomes an action sequence focus of the film. Nothing wrong with that.
That and 90s alt rock is iconic as a genre.
Iron Man uses a lot of AC/DC.

This is a fair point, but are we really going to pretend Brie Larson is as good of a lead actor as Chris Pratt? If Captain Marvel is even half as good at GotG 1 or 2 I'll be absolutely floored.
Lol as others have said Brie Larson is technically way better that Chris Pratt. Oscar caliber.

All of this and one more thing... how the hell did this devolve into a discussion of whether Hole and Garbage are famous 90s rock bands?
Do I want to read the previous posts or is that the Path of Madness?
