Basically he is saying put the bureaucracy of the UMC ahead of your own beliefs.

The entire premise that marriage is so religiously important is something I am not convinced of.

What is happening and will continue to happen is the people that do not agree will simply leave and move on to other churches or go unchurched as I have unfortunately.

That guy is a stereotypical Methodist preacher in my mind. Does any denomination have more milquetoast preachers???

Where did you hear that? It was my understanding that nothing official would be happening until Monday.

A lot of people expressing their own opinions of what they think God says. Nowhere is there a search of the scripture mentioned here or in the many articles written on this subject.
It would be a very short discussion if they just went to the scripture. It is stated plainly and does not require any interpretation.
Good rule of thumb is, the parts of the Bible you disagree with should be read daily.

Read an article yesterday that a block of the LGBT are saying they want to punish churches who don’t side with them and will propose making it almost impossible for conservatives to split off.

"Vengeance is mine" - Angry Homosexuals

Doesn't sound very Christian to seek revenge on those that disagree with them. Another proof that this is from Satan.

all this political correctness can and will bankrupt many of these churches. Look at the Boy Scouts---they are bankrupt. I don't see any women groups or gay groups raising money to keep them on solid ground but they changed their standards to suit them and ran off a bunch of money and families.

We will see if the gay couples that get married in the UMC will pony up enough to offset's the money that will be leaving to keep them going in the future.

Conservatives will split, but there will be loss of property.

The good news is that God will bless congregations who adhere to his word.

Here is one of the One Church Plan folks who are lobbying:

Look to the episcopal church to see what will happen.

Congregations that want to break away are sued.
Congregations that stay start a slow death.

The episcopal church is basically a universal unitarian body with a huge team of lawyers on retainer.

Jesus wasn’t progressive. He actually beat the ones pushing the progressive agenda of his day (the moneychangers))) with a whip

That is pretty much how it has gone in the other denominations that have gone gay. God’s people are always called out of Babylon. There is a real alternative.

The Ancient Church Part 1

The Ancient Church Part 2

The Ancient Church Part 3

It is amazing how a book, written by human author's that we don't even know, keeps mankind in a uproar. Heck until the New Testament books were agreed upon not all Christians believed Jesus was the son of God.
Over time this same book has been changed and added to. The parable of Jesus saying " he who is without sin cast the first stone " was not even in the earliest manuscripts and wasnt added for hundreds of years meaning Jesus probably never even said it.
The " sermon on the mount" was Jesus teaching his disciples exactly what he wanted taught , in his ministry, going forward. Read it slowly not 1 single word about homosexuality but multiple words about adultery.
There has always been the competition between religions on who's church is the correct one to get you to Heaven. Is it the Catholic church or the Baptist or the Methodist? This is nothing more then mankind trying to be right.
If Jesus didnt teach his disciples that homosexuality was the scurge of the Earth why do men think they have the right to do it? Anyone on here complaining about homosexuality and the church needs a reality check. If Jesus didnt preach it neither do you as man falls short of Jesus.
You ahould be bringing people together to learn the true meaning of Jesus then trying to push them out.
The Bible is not perfect hell 1st Solomon and 2nd Solomon can't even decide who actually killed Goliath.
