Your 6 year old got cut from a team?
I am sorry. But I don't think you should have a 6 year old in league where they can get cut.
I think that's a little too young. Get him hooked up with a REC league team for the next 2 years.
Wait until he's 9. Kid pitch.
Yeah, aren't 6 year olds still playing tee-ball? Half the kids in tee-ball games aren't paying attention and have no idea what's going on. I couldn't imagine having actual tryouts for baseball at that level, much less paying travel ball expenses for a 6 year old.

just to clarify... I'm 71 years old and was never cut from any football, basketball, or baseball team I was on

Is your son in High School ? Or is this a travel ball squad ?
I got cut from my HS JV baseball team. It hurts but it can prepare your son to work harder in areas that will mean more after his teenage years. Not every kid makes in HS sports and if your son is younger than HS, he can work on learning the various positions and responsibilities associated with the positions. Learning about covering the 2nd base bag or who the cut off man is . Knowledge of the game can be obtained and used later in coaching if your son desires to go that route. Motivation can be used instead of feeling bad.

This is why travel ball for any age under 12ish is just frickin stupid. Let them play req ball and if you as a parent want them to have more practice and put mote work in them do it at home. It’s the idiotic parents fault for even having a travel team for kids that young.

Why are you posting this on TD? Nobody cares and I’m not even trying to be a dick. What lame soul posts this on a message board.

Also maybe share a father-son beer with him or other special moment if he is old enough
He's 6, so I'd say hold off on the suds for another year or two.

That's ok, there are plenty of other people on this thread trying to be a dick.

Chin up, your kid might still be able to walk on at Ole Miss.

He is 11. Very strange situation, we recently had a couple scrimmages in the local ascension parish area. In two games he was 3-5 with two doubles. Also, pitched 2 innings and had 4 k's 1 hit and no walks. Played catcher, 1st, 3rd with no errors....head scratcher

Wait they still do that these days? I thought everyone made the team? There is a God after all.

Coach just called me wife and cut my kid from the team, first tournament was this weekend. He will be crushed!
Why isn't the Coach telling your son this? What sort of weak person is coaching this that he can't man up and tell the kid to his face, but instead, phones his parents?

Good point....should I call him and demand he tell my son this to his face?

don't know why you'd be involved in any conversation concerning this, back off helicopter, and tell Jaidyn to man the frick up

Up to you. But that's an extreme sign of disrespect from the coach. Is you son going to ask you "why was i cut"? He should be asking the coach that and asking the coach what he can do to improve in the future.
ETA: And why are you asking me, a stranger, what you should do for your son? Be a parent.
