A few years ago, my little niece didn’t make tryouts for her high school dance team. Before this, she was with one of those expensive traveling cheer/dance teams in town. She tore a ACL and then didn’t rehab or prepare for tryouts like she should have. She thought she was a shoe-in. She didn’t make it and was crushed. I haven’t seen her be I’ll prepared for anything since that day. She’s receiving a full paid acedemic scholarship to LSU because she prepared and kicked arse on the ACT. Twice.

So, the moral is that this can be a good thing if you’re a strong parent and use it as a lesson. Make this the spark that lights the fire in his soul.

Against strong opposition from my wife, I called him. Said he hated to do it, but was a personal decision. I tried to push for more..but he just said its best to just move on

Use it as a teaching moment. I made my high school basketball team in the 8th grade and thought I had a spot locked for the 9th grade team. Dicked off during try-outs and was told I didn't make the team. I was crushed. I played league ball for a local park that year, made the all-star team, and then flat-out destroyed everyone in try-outs for JV. There were only 4 people selected out of 50 and I was one of them. Then I realized how awful it was playing basketball for a large high school and how chasing girls and hanging with my friends was a more enjoyable way to spend my Junior and Senior year.

Or this is all just an alter troll and if so,

It's a personal decision based on a 6 year old? Is little Brayden Jr. throwing down in practice?

This is probably a good time to have the "World needs ditch diggers" talk with your son. Since you've clearly failed him as a father, the least you can do is prepare him for a hard life.

So you still didn't tell him that he needs to be a man and tell your son why he cut him? Is he afraid of a 6 year old? And what "personal issues" does an adult have with a 6 year old?

In HS, there was this guy in my class who tried out for the baseball team his fresh, sophomore and junior year.. Didn't make it all 3 years. Finally, he tried out his senior year and the coach told another player, who was a senior and been playing since he was a freshman "I just don't have the heart to cut him again" then told him he made the team..

He was so excited to be on the baseball team, he took every single senior picture with his baseball uniform on.

If travel ball was popular back then maybe the kid would have been able to improve his game in travel ball and been able to play HS ball all four years.

Get this...two other dads just messaged me, their kids were cut too.

We had 10 kids, 5 were coaches kids. They must be combining with another team..or have 3 better kids coming.

If you're being serious, that's pretty fricked up.
