It's about more than losing a game or the way the game was lost. It's about having the entire franchise taken away from you. Because you know you can never really look at this the same way again, never REALLY buy into what's going on, because now you know just how corrupt and rigged it really is. You cannot support the Saints and oppose the NFL, because the Saints are part of the NFL. So all the fond memories, the Super Bowl, going to your first Saints game with your Dad as a kid and listening to the fans chant "Who Dat" as you walked down the ramps inside the Dome, is gone. And, Roger Goodell and his corrupt, New York-style mob cronies stole that from you. Because, as long as this injustice is allowed to stand, you know you can't really be a Saints fan anymore. So, eventually, the support will dry up, and the league will move the team to San Antonio or San Diego or Portland or Mexico City, and the thing that you loved for all of your life is gone. That's what was lost Sunday. It's not just a game. It's not just a season. It's not the career of the best Saint to ever put on the uniform, and his last shot at a Super Bowl. It's your entire relationship with the team and the league, and all the memories you've made over the decades. That's what Roger Goodell and his crooked cronies stole Sunday. And it's gone forever.

Disagree. For me personally, it’s definitely the way it was lost:

Hard fought game.
Wheel route was there all day
Ran wheel route to WR to ice the game on critical 3rd down
Defender was beat. He tackled the WR to prevent a TD.
No flag.

That game was in the bag because the defense failed to adjust to a play all day.

Edit: apologies to the OP. My post doesn’t really address his point.

You, my friend, have looked into the collective soul of the fanbase.

I am unable to finish my thoughts. My eyes are moist.

Absolutely agree with this. I don’t know how as I fan you are supposed to just shrug this off and act like it’s no big deal. If they can steal a Super Bowl from you in the last 2 minutes of the NFCCG and not even feel the need to explain themselves, then why the hell are we bothering with all this going forward? What’s the point?

I've been saying, this has been the goal all along. The NFL had the Saints out of New Orleans after Katrina and the fans put a stop to it. This time, they will gut the heart of the fans so their won't be enough resistance next time. It took almost 10 years to get back in position for another Super Bowl. I believe, in 10 years time, there won't even be a team in New Orleans to get back to the Super Bowl. Hope I'm wrong. I'm probably not.

Agreed, I cannot take the NFL as a serious entity going forward if no justice is served. And I honestly dont care if we have a team because I am giving up on this league all together because I know they wont make this right, so if wont matter to me because supporting the Saints is supporting the crooked and criminal organization that is the NFL. In essence that's what they did they reached into Saints fans and players and owners pockets and stole from them, that's who I feel most sorry for, the people who shell out thousands upon thousands for season tix and owners who Shell out hundreds of millions to run a team each season.

The saints could’ve gone 3-13 this year and it would’ve been my favorite season since the sb due to the huge interest my 6 year old boy has developed for the league (loves the jaguars as he’s grown up in Florida his entire life).

Every week he’d look at records and add to the win/loss column for every team. He comes up with matches in his head and tells me what teams he thinks are evenly matched. He probably knows the upcoming week’s schedules better than me. It’s fun as hell explaining things to him and honestly my enthusiasm about football being killed sucks more from having that interest gone regardless of what the saints are doing record wise.

Basically going to look at football a lot more like pure entertainment at this point without getting too attached. I think football is a fantastic game but frick the entity the nfl has become.

Brees will cost 33+ million next season this means cuts to other key players the restructuring of many contracts. We lack a 1st round pick this season and were cash strapped so no FA's .
The window is closed and the ref's slammed it shut.

Dont worry bro, Goodell and his cheating arse wont be here for ever. Maybe in 15 years he’ll retire and we can pretend like our nations favorite sport isnt rigged.

It's your opinion after a lot thought. Your're wrong, the real Saint fans will never give up on the team. For me, I am boycotting the SB. For the record, I don't think a guy wrote this.

I agree. Something inside is broken now. As much as a Saints fan ive been for 30 plus years, i doubt ill ever believe the game is fair again.

Some truth in your post.
Sounds familiar too.

Here’s where you miss.

There are no other cities in the USofA that can support an NFL team.

Jacksonville can’t even support an NFL team.

We’ve been through this before.

Birmingham? Really?

San Antonio? Really? Like Jerry Jones would allow it even if it wasn’t a lateral move.

St. Louis? Ha!

Oakland? Ha!

L.A. doesn’t even care.

San Diego?

So the NFL is searching for Mexico and Europe.

Won’t work.

I cannot argue against your words because business is business. There may very well be a plan in motion to either move a franchise or close one down for future opportunities elsewhere.

You can see a prefect set of circumstances at play here with the death of the owner, family ownership tension drama, aging stadium facilities, new stadium complexes with multiple marketing options, an aging ownership of the entire league, a small market, higher personnel costs, and more?
