So Zachary pays EBR Schools taxes as well as Zachary schools taxes?
No, of course not. You know better than that.

School districts are not parish agencies. Everyone in the parish pays the same millages for parish services such as BREC, parish library, assessor's office, mosquito abatement, EMS and the Sheriff's office.

Zachary residents pay the Zachary School District property taxes instead of the EBR Parish School District property taxes.

All totaled, Zachary property owners pay approximately 50-60%% more in property taxes assessments than city of Baton Rouge property owners pay.

The link I posted above shows all of the millages for the various property taxing authorities.

Zachary has its own city sales tax as well.

Baws in Zachary will be moving to TX and will be amazed at the schools, no state income tax, car insurance 1/2, etc...

I do wonder how many of the 120 will indeed move to TX

But something is going on in Zachary. This is the third devastating blow to Zachary in a week and for a relatively small city, its a tremendous blow.

The ripple effect with these closures could have pretty big impact in the future, restaurants, real estate, grocery stores etc all impacted.

No thanks. We have enough infrastructure issues as it is. We don't need to make them 10 times worse.

Zachary property owners pay the same EBR Parish agencies taxes as everyone else in the parish plus the City of Zachary has its own additional city and school district taxes.

I don't think they pay CATS which is pretty hefty. There may be others.

All 3 of these facilities are outside of the City of Zachary but inside of our School District. Our School District is slightly larger than the City itself.

It definitely is going to hurt and is not a good thing. I think 30 years ago it would have been fairly catastrophic for Zachary. With the development and growth we have had, and with those the growth in employment opportunities, we will be fine in the long run. But its going to sting for a bit.

Or Louisianians with drive, looking for more opportunity could just move to Texas.

Here's what I have:
BR 119.61 mills not counting DDD
Zachary 146.34 mills

I wasn't sure about who pays the consolidated lighting district tax 2.0 mills, and I didn't assign the Comite diversion tax of 2.41 mills. Some in Zachary and some in BR pay but perhaps not all. I didn't assign the Ponchatrain Levee tax, but I think we all pay. It's 3.52 mills.

50/60% more is high, it's more like 25% more.

BR pays 2% sales tax to the city, 1% streets/sewer, 2% to school board

Zachary has a 2% city tax, 1% for streets/sewer, 2% for schools

Both cities have the same sales tax rates.

This isn't just a Zachary thing. It is going to hurt St. Francisville and the surrounding areas too. Many people who work at these places don't live in Zachary.
