Because it's been shown the businesses don't come without the tax breaks. What Together BR also just conveniently likes to leave out when comparing Louisiana to Texas is state income tax, which Texas doesn't have. Together BR is such a bullshite organization that will ruin what little economy BR does have.

Several companies called the mayor and said they are hiring. Exxon really stepped up.

Some of the Thompson pipe guys left for TX instantly. They were told about the closure a few weeks ago. I'm guessing those are the ones with kids and wanted to get a jump start on this new semester. Still many are staying and still working.

Pipe plant not closing for a few more months. Not sure they would hire within 3 days of the announcement.

I would imagine Exxon is moving cautiously, waiting to see if the Mensas on the Metro Council are going to side with the TBR terrorists and yank all their tax incentives. Listening to these hired guns get to the microphones and blame all the EBR Parish school system woes on Exxon not paying enough taxes is sickening. Those carpetbaggers need to be ridden out of town.

For those questioning Louisiana versus Texas, the total incentives provided are very very similar, they are packaged differently because the two states’ tax structures are very different. And if all things are equal do you go to a state that has their shiite together or one full of corruption, crime, terrible schools, some of the worst roads and infrastructure and multimillionaire shysters practicing in front of crooked judges?

Even with all that, the location of the $7 Billion Exxon greenfield project was a tossup between the two states until JBE told Exxon executives he didn’t care if Louisiana got that project or not. Apparently he would rather attract minimum wage employers knowing that would add to his voters. Can’t have those high paying jobs and an educated workforce, they won’t vote for him.
