With 800 people looking for jobs, opportunities just got much tougher.

I would imagine many of the pipe plant baws would receive a raise when moving to TX. They will have so many upsides to moving but the only downside their kids will need a tutor for 6-12 months to get caught up.

If anyone doesn’t know, “together Baton Rouge” is an out-of-town scam organization. They are here f’ing up everything they touch.

They want to get rid of tax breaks for businesses. Socialist do not understand how economy’s work, they only know how to scream that people don’t deserve anything they work for.

Should have moved the Zoo and none of this would be happening.

I wouldn’t live in Zachary, gonna be a shithole in about 5 years. Baker is starting to bleed in to it after the flood.

Since 1998, they’ve received 36 exemptions, and avoided paying more than $203-million in property taxes, according to the database compiled by Together Baton Rouge.

Certainly, that is the entire point of property tax incentives and it certainly spurs economic growth otherwise we wouldn't be discussing the "dire" ramifications to Zachery.

The salient issue, whether you like Together Baton Rouge or not, is why are the tax breaks that are given by LA so much higher than any other state even for the same industry/companies when there isn't a corresponding growth in the economy. On the surface, it would seem other states get the same or more for less, if you have better sources that suggest otherwise I would be interested.

Zillow is showing a slew of new listings over the last 4 days in the Zachary area. Latest count over 90 homes have hit the market. This is a really large number of properties hitting the market for an area the size of Zachary. Total properties for sale went from 250 to 340 as of tonight. 30 properties are now in the Pre-Foreclosure status according to their site with 9 current foreclosed properties for sale

This is what happens when we have an anti business climate in this state with an oppressive tax code, too many crushing regulations and too many sue happy lawyers everywhere.

Fixing all of this starts this fall with getting rid of that economically illiterate tax and spend clown that we have as the Governor.

Actually in this case I doubt Exxon is benefiting from the closure. That BASF plant is the former Grant Chemical plant that in early 2000's their biggest customer was Exxon. They make very specialized batches of specialty chemicals or at least they did...

These are the folks trying to get a head start before the masses. But really who would be looking to move to Zachary now.

My gosh Zachary is fricked and as long as Together Louisiana and JBE progressive policies keep going, then Exxon will be gone by the end of the year too. EBR will be the next Detroit if they can’t save Exxon. Good thing Eddie Rispone isn’t a progressive cuck

Will be interesting to see what the school board does to lessen the impact.

I guess the folks in Zachary don't see this as a tremendous hit and only a slight downturn in housing and market will readjust.

BASF employees have been offered jobs by Exxon, mainly in Louisiana and 10 jobs in TX. They will have to commute but many people in Zachary already commute.

Thompson Pipe all offered jobs in TX and some have already moved away. Some want to stay in the area and actively looking. I guess once they hear from their buddies in TX they will be packing up as well. But there is a strong desire to stay in Zachary and Louisiana.

GP employees looking at other jobs but noted only half live in Zachary and the other half already commute.

The Tax situation in a year will be the biggest issue for the school system.

The other issue for all of EBR is the flood bubble ending. Plus, interest rates rising. There was already a softness in the local housing market due to those two things.
