Well, you might have wanted to keep that last bit to yourself . . . .

Did you read the report? It's dangerous because of the reason I listed. Might want to not speak about things you don't know shite about.

quote:

While the arching profile of this cantilever bridge may be aesthetically pleasing, its steep grades have been cited as a traffic concern, especially given the high volume of trucks the bridge carries along this major east-west corridor. Proposals to replace the 60-year-old structure have been discussed for more than a decade, but so far improvements have been limited to repairs and maintenance, including a $5.7 million project in 2012 to remove rust and replace damaged rivets.

"Traffic concerns" again STFU if you don't know what your talking about.

Those supports are cracked and crumbling at the base.

No they aren't. Stop spreading stupid shite. There is not a single crumbling support or any that even have more than a few sf of exposed reinforcement. The bolts we're changed a few years ago and all supports we're blasted and coated.

I don't work for dotd but I do pass under the bridge mutiple times a day and right next to the support pictured as it is on the Western side by the isle. The birdge is fine from a structural standpoint.

Westlake moss bluff bridge does have crumbling supports. But it is a draw bridge and is so over engineered that even with the cracked foundations it is more than fine.

DOTD is confirming that a photo showing a large crack in one of the columns attached to the Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles is fake.

That's a relief. Now we don't need to worry about replacing the bridge for another 50 years.

some question about how “fake” the photo is.

Do you think they would allow traffic on that?

Thanks for the heads up. True or false one has to be vigilant. Next time I drive through I'll go 210. I'll stop and get a ham and cheese poboy at Tony's when I do.

It is fake, photo shopped.

I do know what condition the iron work under the bridge looked like before repair a few years ago. I was project manager for scaffolds built underneath to make repairs. Scary and concerning are understatements! Joint connections were entirely rusted, not connected. Repairs were made, but....

Does it need to be rebuilt, yep but not because it's about to fall down. It's because the exists into Westlake and LC suck and back traffic up. It's because it's way too steep for an interesting bridge. It's because there are no shoulders.

Structrually the biridge is fine

the feds are up the i10 bridge's arse at least once a year

we just had what? 2 months of construction to strengthen supports to handle the extra traffic when 210 gets worked on?

it looks terrible and needs maintenance pretty consistently, but it gets that maintenance

fear mongering is a strong thing
