How does the board feel about the possibility of the Govt talking peoples land through eminent domain. This to me is the issue that now one is talking about. It will hold up the wall for years in court. I am not a fan of eminent domain at all. Thoughts?

The federal gov't already owns that land/the land owners know they have to give the feds right away.

This is a stupid talking point

Not a big deal and most ranchers welcome it.

If the land owner is totally again it, put the wall just north of his land

I dont understand how there wasnt an easement in place already.

I think the vast majority would want better security but I'm sure a vocal minority will oppose.

What you do is you build the wall on the land you can, and when thousands of immigrants are being funneled onto their property they'll change their minds.

Pretty sure any land on the border is fedgov ROW. So while they may use it, if fedgov needs it for any reason, it must be cleared. Sort of like utility ROW's.

Considering the gov't of supposed fiscal responsibility is shutting down the gov't because they can't spend enough, I'd say that the government (under Trump of course) can do whatever it wants and they'll fully support it.

In summary: GOP has abandoned their principles completely and stands only for what Trump tells them to stand for.

shame, shame, shame...

Where are all the landowners who want to turn down a free wall on their property? Surely the left would be trotting them out if they existed?

But not the illegals and the added strain on our education system, healthcare, and other welfare programs right?

I don't really get this as an "issue." Are a lot of people at risk of being denied seriously useful portions of their property by the government potentially commandeering via eminent domain the strip of it that constitutes the freaking border with Mexico? How so?

If there is EVER a reason for eminent domain to exist, this is it... It sucks, I have been through it but I was fairly compensated for the taking...

It will not hold up the wall either...

eminent domain lawsuits are the smaller worry...environmental impact, endangered species law suits, etc would tie this thing up for years.

I think they should just move past landowners who don't want it and continue building where their property ends. That way their open areas will be the funnel point that drive all the illegal criminal aliens to their land.

That said, I would be surprised if there wasn't government easement on the line separating countries.
