Are people restoring cars and trucks from the ‘80’s and ‘90’s?

I’m not talking about restomods, but full on nut and bolt restorations back to factory original. 25-30 years seems to be the sweet spot for this to start happening (I remember people restoring autos from the 1950’s and 1960’s when I was a kid).

I have to admit I don’t hear much about the 80’s cars getting this treatment yet. Delayed or not going to happen?

I doubt it, at least not at the same levels as earlier cars. The 80s is when electronics really started being heavily used in vehicles, and trying to replace those are going to be severely cost prohibitive.

I actually just watched a VIN Wiki video last night about this. Talked about some of the "newer" cars that are likely to jump up in value in the coming years.

C4 Vettes, OBS Chevy trucks, fullsize Broncos, clean fox bodies were some of the things this guy thought were good "investments" as they could still be gotten relatively cheap and should soon start seeing upticks in value.

I've seen a few of the 89/90 Mustang 5.0s driving around that appear to be in pristine condition. Also a few 300ZXs and Supras.

I've seen it done with some 80's model Jeep CJ's and Wagoneers/Cherokees. Most people go more restomod though.

Yes I’m aware of people restoring square body Chevys from that era as well as Jeep Wagoneers, MJ Comanches, and XJ Cherokees.

The 80s, and to some extent, the 90s are considered the low point of car design and manufacturing

I am waiting on my Chrysler K car as I type.

Brown paint with brown breathable plastic interior. Bench seat, 4 cyl. AM radio and a lockable glove compartment.

It's a dream car baby!

I had a 92 Silverado that I kept around because it had sentimental value. It looked like a piece of shite but still ran good. I would occasionally get unsolicited offers from people for it. I finally sold it to a Chevy dealer who fixed it up really nice and used it as a utility driver for the dealership.
