Yes Captain Obvious, you do but apparently some of your neighbors want it to go away. Possibly so that once the economy dries up they can just complain and start collecting a check in the mail?

Texas is a liberal shithole, who wants to be like them?

LA is already behind and our cultures shite. our population/demographic issues mean the scales likely have tipped and we can't go back and progress forward. in addition, the issue is that every other state is now giving huge tax breaks to companies to move there. we don't have anymore magic bullets to use
the really sad part is that we can only even offer incentives to industries that are medium/low skilled work. look at IBM in BR. it can't hire enough people b/c there aren't enough educated/skilled workers in the area to fill the jobs
LA is doomed if you're a producer outside of O/G, government, or your industry essentially preys on the underclass

This is immediately what I thought when I saw every company highlighted a petro/chem company.

I stopped watching after they argue we are paying the industrial companies money out of our pocket. That is NOT how the subsides work.
The subsidies say"Hey, if you come to LA or if you expand in LA instead of owing us $100M in taxes over 10 years, you will only owe $75M." This is NOT the state paying $25M to lure the company, it's the state saying we will only take in $75M. If the company doesn't come, the $75M doesn't come either.
People opposing the exemptions are retarded and don't know how these work.

they just assume that everything stays the same when tax rules change and that's utterly stupid and idealistic
EVERYONE is using these tax lures these days. if we stop, then we lose. yeah we can claim the high ground in terms of morality/principle, but we will lose economically (and yes, we will lose out on tax revenue as well)

I mean I understand the reason people are fighting the ITEP (at least in BR) is they want a raise for teachers. I also understand part of the current fight is Exxon is attempting to file for exemptions on work they have already completed but hadn't filed the exemption (in this case I am against it) all because of new ITEP rules.
I have a MUCH better option that would allow for more rev both to pay teachers and better police officers.
LEGALIZE MJ AND SPORTS BETTING LOUISIANA!
It's going to happen nationwide why not get out in front and be a front runner instead of last like everything else. And guess what, if you can become the first in the South to make full legal for MJ, you will be leaps and bounds ahead for when other states legalize and need to buy product from us. You create entire NEW industries.

When I think of investment in education. It should not mean money.
I don't mean to offend anyone...about the Houston area ISDs. They spend less than 2K per student compared to many of the school systems in Louisiana and get amazing results.
It starts at home. Get in kids mind they must go to school. If you see one snowflake you don't cancel school. If it might thunderstorm the next day you don't call off school in advance.
The Houston area is overwhelmed with people from Louisiana. I don't want to make anyone furious but look around and figure out what are the reasons so many are moving to TX from Louisiana.

Because they can't get O&G jobs in Louisiana?

There’s a reason why we have trouble attracting industries here to the state. Why bring them here when it will bring jobs to people who then won’t have to depend on government? You think our politicians want that?
You want to make Louisiana rich? Start deregulating free enterprise and give these people jobs.
You're under the false impression that the people there are capable of filling those jobs
The talent base in Louisiana is too pathetic

The reason IBM can't get enough people is because they want to pay new hire salaries to people with 10 years experience. And that is just a game because by offering these lowball wages that experienced personnel wont take they can bring in an Indian on an H1b.

Louisianas Economy is rough unless your In Baton Rouge or New Orleans, Even the Northshore, their is no real industry their, just mainly service job with a small handful of different industry jobs.

Talk to the hundreds of thousands that moved to Houston from Louisiana. My child's pre K class has 12 kids, 5 of the 12 lived in Louisiana a long time or born and raised in LA.
Same job in Louisiana and Houston.
(1)The job in Houston would probably pay 20% more.
(2) In burbs of Houston, housing can get more bang for your buck
(3) Amazing public schools, save 10K a year per child in private school tuition
(4) Car insurance is half, housing insurance cheaper
(5) Cheaper electricity due to deregulation and allows competition.
(6) No tax on grocery bills
(7) No state income tax, but offset by higher property taxes
(8) invest in infrastructure in Houston. Look at all the new road construction. Building new schools at an alarming rate.

And that's good for them, but not everyone wants to live in a concrete jungle.
La is still struggling from the days of corruption and a system that still exists to this day. Most parishes are like family run mobs.

EXCELLENT video. Don't be a knucklehead and react negatively without listening and trying understand how absurd our tax exemption policies are here. Businesses DO NOT locate here for tax exemptions, they locate here because they HAVE TO. We don't take advantage of our natural resources, but give them away. Wake up people.

That’s because we were blessed with access to the gulf, the port of New Orleans, and easy access to the Mississippi River.
We have some of the largest reserves of O&G off our coast. That is why we have petrochemical companies here. Not because of any sweet policies. The policies Govenor Sid would like to enact are the same ones that drive all the major O&G companies out of LA and into TX. TX got those companies because of business friendly tax policies, unlike what we have in LA.
Was just about to post this. Upvote

I don't dispute any of that, but a lot more people would obviously stick around LA if we had the density of high paying white collar O&G jobs that Houston and its surrounding areas provide. And obviously quality of life would go up in LA.
