Dry Prong, Many, Jena, Vidalia, Lake Providence, Winnfield to name a few. All up north with good hunting and fishing and cheap land and homes.

Well almost gated. High security I’ll say that

Natchitoches, Toledo Bend. Stonewall south of Shreveport is pretty nice. Ruston wouldn't be bad.

Plaquemine. There are two new neighborhoods opening up and you can buy a house in the country club for the same amount you can buy a home in a nice house in Brusly. If you like to play golf that could be for you.

North Baton Rouge.

No matter where you end up, you’re still going to be miserable

Lafayette really isn’t bad. In the older part of town near Lafayette general off Bayou parkway. If you are talking an hour or less from Tiger Stadium, and less overall BS that metro br provides. Lafayette has pretty much everything you’d need right there. Traffic is bad but nowhere near as bad as the BR area. The only things you’d need to go east for would be LSU games & family visits. It’s basically a smaller br with way less traffic, crime and ghetto.
BR and everything within 30-40 miles of it are over crowded at this point. If you have the opportunity, get out. It’s getting worse and worse and there’s basically nothing being done to improve infrastructure to handle the growth.

But then you have to tell people that you live in Lafayette

Exactly.
I basically grew up there. It must have really improved in the last 15-20 years

Natchitoches, but it’s farther away from Baton Rouge than you want to be

I’d rather tell people I retired in Lafayette than tell people I retired in Ascension parish. No place in greater Baton Rouge sounds nice long term honestly. It’s just too crowded and there’s nothing for infrastructure. They refuse to build for the future it’s a joke.
