I'm in the market for an insulated/waterproof jacket for the mid to late season once it gets really cold. Specially for where I duck hunt we have a bad north wind that can be killer.

I had an older Drake 2 piece but I'v out grown it and am wanting something similar in terms of insulation and durability.

I have plenty of layering cloths. I just need a good outer piece that doesn't hinder me from shouldering quickly.

Can't say enough good things about First Lite. My wife is starting to get annoyed b/c I've been getting about a package a week from them for the last few months.

I got the classis parka from Artic Shield 2 seasons ago and I have been very pleased with it.

most of the waterproof jackets I've had actually do this. Last year, I layered a cheap fleece or down jacket from Midway under a thinner waterproof zip up shell from under armour. That did what you're asking for.

otherwise, go shopping and try some on I guess. go to the store, put a jacket on, wear to the gun counter to try it out.

Gamehide makes high quality jackets and aren't that expensive.

I'll second this. I've got the liner and shell; it's great stuff and Columbia's customer service is second to none.

I have a First Lite Woodbury. I love it. Maybe not the best duck hunting jacket, but for cold, windy whitetail still hunting you cant beat it.

No OT baller here!

I will have to check into the first lite they seem nice.

The drake I had, I enjoyed the 2 piece. At sun rise I could shed the rain topper portion of the jacket and still wear the inner insulation and shoulder quickly. If if I did run into rain, heavy wind, or at ride out I could quickly throw the topper back on. Always kept me dry and warm.

Onyx Camouflage Flotation Jacket

Bulky but extremely warm. Plus you always have a pfd on.

Trust me I was the same way but after you go through almost every brand on the market and they last 3-4 seasons top and stow rain about as well as a window screen, you get tired of it. Ive heard nothing but great things about Sitka customer service and Ive had mine for 3 years now and no issues whatsoever. I have friends who are guides who have had it for 6 seasons now without any issues

I bought a Magellan Pintail wader jacket at Academy on sale for $40 before last season and have loved it for the price. I hunt almost exclusively in Louisiana and haven't ever needed anything more. I know it's Academy brand and cheap, but until I get cold or wet in it I'll keep wearing it happily.

Sitka. It is expensive but well worth it. I got my first piece of Sitka at a huge discount and have bought several more articles of clothing. Good clothing is like investing in your comfort.

I've had a Columbia quad parka since 1996 and when it's cold I am warm with only a T shirt under it. My new Drake parka cuts wind like toilet paper.
I'd go with Columbia if I were in the market. Can't speak for the Sitka clothing.

Sitka is very warm without being bulky. Son had a discount through work when he got a jacket for me.
