Can a horse sing is an easy question to you?

I've been thinking about this for a while and I can't come up with a yes or no answer.

Does the average horse sing? Of course not. But we really need to get to the definition of "sing". I saw a video a couple of days ago with a donkey "singing" and it was pretty good. I'm sure there are horses out there who could do the same or better.

I'm gonna do some more research since it's a slow day at work but that's really a horrible yes or no question for a first grader.

When I was younger, our reading course load was ridiculous. We were required to read something like 15-20 100 page books over the summer

No you didn't. I went to one of the top 5 ranked private schools in the state, and we had to read 6 books a summer. You were not reading 15 books a summer.

I don't know why you people lie about this shite.

Yes. Every Friday or Thursday one week when they had off Friday for fair.

Overall the point totals are around 200 points some being worth 10 points some 30. So if he missed a Friday unexcused he loses ~200 points off his grade.

Ours was a points system. Had to read so many points worth and take a test on them.

Longer or more difficult books were worth more points.

Shows a lack of parental commitment.

Wasn't aware this site only worked while you are at work.

Or are you just full of shite so you're not going to do it?

WTF. There is no freaking way. 12 tests a damn week? Are you sure these aren't like quizzes and just stuff he shouldn't have to study for?

I didn't even have 12 tests a week in college.

Have you mentioned this to any of your neighbor's, classmate's parents? This seems extremely extreme. I think either you are misunderstanding the process or this is made up. There is just no way a 7 year old has 12 tests a week. Maybe this was just once every 6 weeks?

My neighbor has twins in 2 different classes. My son had 30 of these tests before their children had 1.

When I say tests at a college level they would be quizes. They are 10-30 points each in value. Some have been 50.

I met a parent of one of my sons classmates but she was oblivious to how often they were tested. She didn't seem very involved in her kids education. She did say her other kid had better grades when he was in 1st grade.

Also my son is 6 not 7. Wont be 7 until end of school year.

Wait, they are in the same grade, different teachers and have different homework?

If so, I think you need to have a parent - teacher - principal conference and bring in the quizzes vs your neighbor's son's quizzes and go from there.

In our school, every student despite classroom, has the same homework and same amount.

I asked them yesterday if they could save their sons tests/quizzes next time to compare. I asked the same of my SIL. If I see my sons stress level continue to rise and grades fall I will be asking the principal to move him. Problem with that is this schools principal isn't known to be parent friendly at all. The school has also had an insane turnover in the last year.

1. I know I went to a more rigerious high school than you.
2. I know I didn't have near that much summer reading
3. I then used deductive reasoning (do you know what this means?)

Have more faith in your kid. If he's doing well under that regimen now, he'll continue to do well, maybe forever.

Just make sure he doesn't get turned off of reading. Make sure he knows that he can read stories just for fun, too.
