A dude I grew up with (but haven’t seen in years) is big into sky diving. He did the same kinda jump recently. Hard pass for me

Chutes and are only certified for x number of jumps, and your reserve chute has to be periodically repacked even if not used. I guess this is a good way to get rid of a main chute that is at end of life, find out if your reserve chute works, and get it repacked.

Bound to be a safer method. I’m the unlucky one who goes to put a spare on only to find out it's flat as well....don’t like my chances of “testing” the ol back-up

Knowing that you're going to be immolating your main chute, shouldn't you pack a reserve, reserve chute?

Like every other "yeah, well watch this..." category on on video, the sky divers keep ramping up what they do.

Another video shows the jumper tossing all his gear over the sides of the balloon gondola then jumping without anything. It's all fun and games until you get tagged for manslaughter when you forgot that crap has to land somewhere, and it hit someone.
