I emailed Mike Johnson about a personal matter involving a federal agency last week and haven't heard anything back. Not even an automailer. How long should I expect to wait to hear back from his office?

One of his pages/interns will respond within a week with a vague non-answer.

"thanks for your concern about the state of affairs.

Email the person who runs his district office directly.

"Do you run around with any high-profile donors? If so, we should talk"

Call them with a donation and then ask to speak directly. Just make sure the donation is five digits and you'll get your chance.

Tweet that you emailed him haven't gotten a response. See how fast they contact you.

Congressmen and Senators should be forced to spend the majority of their time in their home districts, open to the public. In today's age of communication, the need for them to all be in Washington is minimal for the purposes of consulting and voting on legislation.

I emailed my state representative last year about an issue with the DMV. Someone from her office got back to me and resolved the issue. It was a good experience overall.

The closer you are to an official, the more responsive they are, usually. I've never lived in a city, though, so that might change for councilmen and commissioners in a bustling metro.

Good Luck. You may get a response from the Asst to the Asst Gopher.

About 10 years ago or so I wrote a letter to Paul Ryan. His letter back said to call his scheduling assistant if I was interested in speaking with him. I didn't believe it, but I reached out to the assistant and she scheduled a time for me to talk to him. He called me promptly at the scheduled time and we spoke for 30 minutes. Definitely an unbelievable experience but I was pretty impressed.

Mine is high, but I also have walk in access at several offices when I am in DC. I also worked campaigns which really helps with access.

Within an hour notice of emailed received and expectation of when to expect a response to request, Florida

It depends on the Senator and/or Representative. I had a good experience with one in Louisiana when I lived there, and one less so in Texas, Senator Cruz's office more specifically. Both responded, just the results were vastly different. Email does make it quicker these days.

Called McCain's office once and let one of his underlings have it for about 20 min concerning a Veterans issue when they told me No Name was unavailable. I'm not from AZ either.
I've written and emailed national and state folks so many times I made a folder for the CPU and the desk. Received generic responses for the most part.

I contacted Cassidy’s office during the ObamaCare attempted repeal last summer in email by phone. With suggestions. I got No response but some college kid on the phone patronizing me. Kennedy did respond.
I emailed Kennedy about the Kav thing. He didn’t answer but he did go on TV today and say he was in Kav’s corner. That’s enough for me.
I didn’t bother with Cassidy. That weirdo is dead to me. He’s useless. I hope He gets primaried.
