I was taking the ASVAB test in my high school cafeteria. Noticed the administering men/women becoming antsy, finished and returned to class. The class was silent when I returned and there was a radio broadcasting the news on a chair at the front of the room.

Walking to English Class at LSU I crossed paths with a friend who said classes were being cancelled due to a plane hitting the WTC. That was on the sudewalk on Nicholson Ext. by CEBA. I then drove home and watched the towers fall on TV. My roommate, who never got up before noon, was awake and stoned out of his mind watching the coverage on TV. I don't ever remember seeing a pothead that serious and pissed off before or after that moment. It was a beautiful, cool, sunny morning in BR.

When I drove home down Stanford Ave, all of the radio stations were covering it via a national feed.

Was a junior in highschool. We were in assembly when the principal made the announcement. At the time I didn't understand the situation entirely, until I had heard the 2nd tower was hit and saw video.

Had a job interview that morning downtown. Interview was rescheduled and I never ended up going. Moved out of state for a year and then came back and got another degree from LSU

In school. Turned the TV on just minutes before the second plane hit which we watched live. Watching and listening was all we did the rest of the day. I distinctively remember talking with faculty and students that we were witnessing history. All very surreal.

Tomorrow is the 17th year anniversary of 9/11. Where were you that day?

Almaty, Kazakhstan.

It was 8:03 PM local time when the second plane hit the South Tower. I watched it happen live on my apartment’s satellite TV on Fox News.

The U.S. embassy called about 2 hours later telling me not to leave my apartment the next day until they could determine if Americans were secure there.

Kazakhstan is a predominately Muslim country.

I had just received & acceted a job offer from a company in Nashville the Friday before, so I was at my parents’ house in AL sleeping late.

The company had to pull the offer, but they extended it again a few months later.
