5th grade classroom. They sent everyone home. My dad was home when I got back. He explained it to me and we watched TV most of the rest of the day.

In HS, we watched on a tv in the room. One of the teachers ran down the hall screaming "were going to war!"

School, I remember the teachers going out in the hallway and crying. First time I ever cried when I saw the news. Those planes hitting the towers gets me everytime

4th year of college...not senior year! Woke up, saw it on TV, called my then gf and went to class. I had criminal justice that morning. Left and went to watch on TV...I'll leave out details but it was with a group of friends, one of whom's father was in one of the towers. He was a mess, crying, flipping out. They never found anything from his dad, not a bone, tooth, ID, nothing.

5th grade French class. Our teacher was ironically named Mr. Sanchez. Saw the 2nd plane hit on “channel 1” news. My home room teacher was crying when we got back to her class.

Was living in NOLA with my wife and 1 y.o. son. We were young and broke so only had one car. I was bringing my wife to work at Touro and Rod Ryan on 106.7 came on the radio and said, essentially; look, I know we joke around a lot, but what I'm about to tell you is not a joke. One of the twin towers has been struck by a commercial plane.

I turned around and went back home in time to see the 2nd plane hit. My then FIL talked me out of joining the Marines.

Sitting in the fuel shop at Little Rock AFB

I assumed we would retaliate... Didn't think we'd still be dealing with this shite 17 years later

I deployed shortly after

History class. Cue the cliche, but my teacher said one day I'll be teaching about this.

I was at home sleeping, I had worked the overnight shift at work. My mother called me to let me know what was going on. I was annoyed that she was calling so soon after I had gone to bed, but once she told me what happened it was many, many hours before I could go back to sleep.

Where were you that day?

Being treated like a POW at SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) Training at Fairchild AFB, WA. They didn't stop training so we didn't find out until late that evening. When they broke the news we thought the instructors were just fricking with us with another "training scenario" and we were going to go back to the camps. I knew it was real when they had the Chaplain come in to pray with us for the victims and families. Very surreal moment when we got to go to the dorms and see all the replays on FoxNews/CNN.

Was at the office. Drove home that evening, sun was about to set, and some boys were tossing around a football-as we did as kids-thought to myself, your world has changed forever and you don't even realize it, God bless each of you

I was 4 years old and I remember seeing the WTC on TV with smoke coming out of both towers. My mom was bawling her eyes out. I remember her telling me that a plane hit the towers but I was too young to comprehend what was really going on. It’s a day I’ll never forget

First period, religion class, sophomore year of HS.

Watched the 2nd tower get hit live. 2nd period English, we told the teacher what happened and that’s when the Pentagon was hit and 4th plane was presumably heading to the Capitol where my English teacher’s daughter worked.

Was in my office, sweating my bar results.

Couldn't figure out why FoxNews website was stalling out/slow.

Friend called and said a plane had hit one of the Twin Towers.

Found a TV just in time to hear the report of the second plane hitting.

Wife called panicked because she had heard the Pentagon had been hit asking if we were at war and if she should pick up our son from daycare. Told her to get him and head to her parents.

Spent the rest of the day watching TV, first at work, then when I got home.

If the Armed Forces of the United States had been at my disposal, Afghanistan would have been a sheet of glass and the rest of the Muslim world would be on notice that if an American stubbed their toe, Mecca would be levelled.

I was piping a 40 ton HVAC unit in the basement floor of the then new Cancer Center at Providence Hospital in Mobile. Didn’t see any footage until I got off work that day.
