Elementary school. I still remember them taking us all to the chapel to discuss what happened

Got up for class at LSU and watched coverage until I had to leave for class. Went to my first class then went home to watch the rest of the day.

9th art class. No tv in the room. Announcement came on for all students to report to a room with a tv. Went to my next class and I remember the teacher who happened to also be the football coach pleading with students to pay attention because that day would be an everyday topic for the next 25 years. He compared it to what many of our grandparents witnessed with Pearl Harbor. He was pretty dang accurate.

Seeing all the people in the towers above the impact zones laying down on top of each other and standing in the broken windows 1000 feet up is something hard to get out of your head. You can only imagine the agony they were going through where the only solution was to hang out the windows 1000 feet up to get a breath.

I’m pretty Rain Man when it comes to September 11. There’s so much stuff on YouTube from full day news broadcasts to documentaries. I’ve seen just about all of it.

7th grade algebra. I had just left football practice, walked into algebra class, and the teacher was crying. We had no idea why until she explained to us what was going on

Was sitting in 7th grade honors algebra..the intercom went off and said to turn the tvs to the news. And we saw the second plane hit. Me and my friends in the class from military families, due to us living on fort jackson, all knew what was to come next. So we just sank down and just went to a place in our heads to try to shut out the hysteria from the other kids in the class. It was that day I knew nothing was going to keep me from joining the USMC, had a 15% baseball scholly to citadel and CoC and a 5% to SCAR but turned them down to join.

I’ve posted about this before, but one more time won’t hurt.

Unlike most people I didn’t get a chance to watch any of the coverage.

I was on a FEMA USAR task force back then and we got deployed to the Pentagon on 9/11.

Not a day goes by where I don’t think about it. We stayed about 10 days removing victims and debris as well as shoring up the damaged structure.

I still have a recurring nightmare several times a year about an incident that took place when we were clearing the main rubble pile.

It’s very sureal and difficult to explain but when I think back on it, it was one of the best and worst experiences of my life.

LSU West Laville dorm room ... my phone landline rang that Tuesday morning and woke me up just before my actual alarm went off... it was my mom telling me to turn on the tv because we just got attacked. I wasn’t fully awake and alert yet, and I just assumed she meant something in Lafayette was attacked. When I turned on tv , it was just “in time” to see the second plane hit second tower. All classes were canceled that day except my 1:30 pm engineering class. He was Indian or Pakistani ... Ganesh . He didn’t give a shite , but he was a good dude overall.

Damn .... that was one unreal day ... smh

Overslept my 8am class at LaTech. Girlfriend called and told me to go turn on the TV, which I did and watched in disbelief.

Fast forward to tomorrow, I’ll be flying a CRJ for an airline. Kinda strange that I’ll be flying on the anniversary of that event.
