Stockpiled implies the QB position as well.....which we all know outside of ZM....has been a fking joke overall going all the way back to the beginning of the LM era.

WE had LF/Guice and couldn't do shite with them running wild.

Why are you guys so fricking worried about Jimbo? The guy blew it at Florida State.

He had a dream situation and couldn't sustain it.

Aggieland is a far tougher situation - greater recruiting competition and way tougher conference AND division. He'll have a good season here or there, but he'll be LSU's bitch just like Sumlin was.

Ummm no. Hiring an unqualified coach by an idiot AD is gonna hurt LSU. A&M and Georgia have nothing to do with us. Stupid thread.

Alleva hiring a joke for a HC is what is hurting LSU. You couldn’t fill a post it note with Orgeron’s list of achievements as a HC and all these kids are being reminded of it.

That’s why LSU had it’s worst class in 12 years last year?

Lol. That probably had more to do with other schools taking advantage of the hc fiasco don’t ya think?! It happens. The classes will be in the top of the rankings for a decent stretch. But to throw shite on your take, I’ld like for the haters to stop ignoring the transfers that will be studs on the field this season.

I agree, it’s going to be tougher for LSU, but I’m fully behind Coach Orgeron and wishing him success for LSU!

Jumbo is not a magician. He had some success at FSU but also some notable flops.

Uhh, Jimbo is definitely way better than O. He took a mediocre and falling FSU program and had success immediately. He took a 7-6 team and went 10-4 in his first year winning the division.

Two years later his team wins the conference championship and finishes 12-2 winning the Orange Bowl. The next 2 years his team goes 27-1 with a national championship and heisman winner with a stupid amount of draft picks. Over the next 2 years he goes 20-6 with back to back 10 win seasons.

He won immediately at a program that saw its long dominance end at the turn of the century, aka, a decade prior. After his first year his recruiting shot up immediately. FSU went from a #12 class to the #2 class in one year. From 2011-2016 only once did they not have a top 4 class, and from 2011-2017 only once did they have lower than a top 6 class. Offense improved dramatically with him as HC even though 3 of his last 5 years he had a true or redshirt freshman as the starting QB.

I believe the guy stopped trying at FSU because the admins were against him, especially not giving him the money to hire better coaches (such as on defense).

The worst thing that could have happened, did happen.

1. Jimbo goes to a top money making Texas school
2. He goes to a conference and division with way more competition

He can now fix the glaring problems that stopped TAMU from becoming great. The passing game will be great right off the bat. The Starkel kid was a redshirt freshman last year and after playing in only 7 games (2 of them splitting time), he was just as good, if not better, than Etling was. In the last 5 games of the season, he averaged 320 pass yards per game and had 13 pass TDs. He is already putting much needed talent back into that school and LSU might see that impact on our Texas recruiting as early as this year.

Smart had a good start but he is still very much a rookie coach. Neither of these coaches or programs is ten feet tall

Smart stayed under Saban's wing forever and learned his tricks from the master. For the longest UGA has been a sleeping giant because of the fertile talent in state and nobody in state to really challenge for it (I mean Georgia Tech ain't really getting top players). Because Richt was such a timid recruiter, Auburn, Bama, and Clemson pillaged big time recruits from there yearly. Just Georgia's top 25 players are listed in the top 238 of recruits overall in the country. The amount of defensive talent alone in the top 25 has to be a wet dream for Smart. The guy has top QBs and RBs continuing to flock to him despite being loaded at both positions.

Richt left the cupboard stocked and Smart is continuing to flood it with elite talent on top of elite talent. They are at 2 right now with 5 freaking 5 stars and only 16 total commits. They are like an inch behind Bama with 4 less recruits. He is recruiting just like he did at Bama.

The defense will always be good and the offense is actually going to a more wide open approach this year.

Mullen going to UF was huge and Moorehead could turn out to be the next Mullen for MSU.

LSU was the only school in the SEC deciding on not going after young potential or proven experience at HC. Instead they went after comfort, continuity, cheapness, and proven failure. A crazy Cajun that had no business leading a program of this caliber. Our guys in charge don't want or care to have a top football program.

He would fail in Baton Rouge.

If we kept Aranda, he wouldn't. His problem has always been defense, never offense, and with him being a former DC, I think most of that is because he played in the Big 12.

Bob Stoops hit home runs with both Kevin Wilson and Lincoln Riley at OC. Hell the dude is only 2 years older than Ed. If not him, Gundy is your best option

94 down votes by the P6 Clique.

The "Pitiful and Pathetic Ponamsky Purple Poontang Posse" defend the company line and mediocrity at all costs. They're the true enemies of LSU football.

Apart from the guy with the ridiculous buyout clause, who would want Joe Alleva for a boss?

Serious question.

Georgia being good is actually good for LSU. They may get a Louisiana guy every now and then, but they are much more likely to take guys that Bama, Auburn, and Florida would normally get. Since they border those states. And since we play all 3 of those schools every year, that’s obviously better for us. More importantly, though, is that it gives Auburn a much tougher East game every year. Would be great for,LSU if Pruitt can get a Tennessee rolling, too, but that seems less likely.

Now, A&M being good will really suck. If Jimbo finishes this class off top 3, that will be scary. But I think that contract may wind up hurting them long-term.

And my opinions on this have got nothing to do with who LSU’s coach is. Orgeron, Miles, Saban—it’s good for us for Georgia if Georgia is good. Bad for us if A&M is good.
