Hit my 134th Marriott night this year last week. It's been challenging trying to stay on training schedule. But I've enjoyed finding new running paths in different cities. Glad I will be home next two weeks to stay in training schedule on the stretch run.

Ha. I’m good for about 40-50 Hilton stays a year. Not as much as you but I do like checking out Strava segments before I go to a place for travel and mapping out a run. Been able to snipe a few KoMs.

19 miles. Forced myself to do the recommended 11 minute pace. Hurt worse than any of my other long runs where I “ran too fast.” Not sure if I’ll go that slow again. My legs are shredded and my left foot felt like it was going to explode.

Nice job man!

Thanks. This was the second time I consumed a gel with a glass of water before running and my initial mile was sub-8:30. I think I'll do the same thing on race day.

Now I need to start getting my gut flora in check.

I put in an easy 11 mile, 9:10/mi run this morning with a 65 yr old man I befriended at the trailhead. Turns out he's ran close to 150 marathons. Great conversationer who still has some wheels on him. I'll do a light run and bike ride this week before attempting a sub 1:50:00 half next weekend. Anyone around the NS is welcome to join me.

Got in 12 this morning. Not my best run as far as how I felt during

2 weeks until Las Vegas marathon. Need to button up the diet and hopefully have some energy in my legs on race day

What race are you running?

What's everybody got planned for the rest of this year and the Spring?

12/02 Tiger 10K (BR) - goal is sub 45:00, to qualify for C corral at CCC in April
01/06 Jackson Day Race 9K (Arabi) - Random race, have a good friend who lives nearby.
01/20 La Marathon (Half) (BR) - Sub 01:50:00
02/16 Mardi Gras Mambo 15K (BR)
04/20 CCC 10K (NOLA)

I will jump in any other races that family/work allow but these are my preferred choices and will make concerted efforts to make happen. I plan to stay trained up for anything up to the Half through Spring.

I'm not running a race. Just going out and running against the clock. Want to make it a two man race? Registration is free. I can pick up some shirts at Goodwill if that will attract you to join.

Sat am? Was planning to take it easy this week due to lack of sleep but may take you up on that. I’ll let you know something mid week depending on how it’s going with the little one. Which trailhead?

I was planning on Sat AM, but can hold off to Sun if you gonna join me. I typically run from the Mandeville trailhead where you passed during your half last week. I hope you can make it. Would certainly help me drop some time.

Dont feel bad. I get it. I would be more than willing to drive in that direction if you can carve out a good 13 mile course with limited car access. If so, consider me good to go.

I think the Trace is better than anything I have to offer that isn’t full of curves/cars. Will let you know.

Same here. Got in 10.5 miles this afternoon. Did it at about 9.15 pace, was a little slower than I wanted but still felt good. (Considering everyone on the OT runs a sub 8 minute mile judging by that thread hahah)

For those that have run halfs and marathons, what are your go to foods before the race. Race time isn't until 4:30pm, so just want some advice on what others have eaten on race days.

Man a distance race that late would drive me crazy throughout the day with anticipation.

I usually start bumping the carbs up 2 days out, with less focus on protein. I’ll make a big batch of pasta with veggies, a couple chicken breasts, etc a couple days out and mostly eat that. Nothing else really changes with my diet but it stays clean anyway. Race day morning it’s been oatmeal and berries 2-3 hours out and a banana an hour before. I’ll drink some coconut water a day out and the morning of also.

Been wondering what I’m gonna do also with the late start. Probably eat breakfast at a restaurant in the hotel maybe around 8 hours before and then probably won’t eat again until after the race. Have my usual Gu right before and during the run.

I almost always eat a bagel (400 cal) with honey (100 cal), as well as a GU (100 cal) with caffeine. I've also eaten some Ramen (200 cal) so I'm not deficient of sodium.

Any of y’all tried the Maurten gels? Had one during the race yest. Went down much easier than Clif or Honey Stinger gels (my usuals). Actually never tried GU though.

GU has done the job for me so far.

Gotta find a taste that doesn’t make you barf though. I’ve had 3 that did not go down well.
