Does the effort calculator keep track well? I do t mind paying around 10 bucks a month, just not a whole year at a a time.
I was a big fan of Training Peaks TSS (training stress score). They used it to keep track of overall fitness by averaging the last 6 weeks and overall fatigue by averaging the last 7 days. Using both numbers, it was really good way to gauge how much you were building up and how well you tapered. If I saw my fatigue was lower than xxx and my overall fitness was still over xxx, then I usually had a good day unless sick. Even estimates TSS for a planned workout you didn't do yet, so you can use it for future planning. But at 120 bucks for the year I have a hard time paying. And if you do monthly, it's like 19 a month which is too much.

Training for fall marathons is not easy to do in the South.
Too many long runs in the hot summer months training.

About 50 miles from Monday through this morning.
frick this. I'm drinking beer, getting drunk, getting fat, and watching football all weekend.

It’s the same as the training peaks if I’m reading you right. It’s relatively accurate as far as I can tell and I like the heartrate zones and pace zones records.
When did they double the price? All in was 50 for me with a discount code. Regular was about 60.
For 120? Yeah they can GTFO.

Says me every weekend. I usually justify it with a long trail run on Saturday morning.
I had the weirdest run this morning. 5 miles at 8:20ish pace. Felt like I was pushing it pretty hard the whole run but after I got home and looked, my first 2 miles were at or over 9:00 pace... last 3 were around or below 8.
I’m used to my first mile being a bit sluggish but more like 8:40 dropping down to 8:15 or below when I get warmed up. Not a big deal but I felt like I was running around 8:15 or lower when I was running 9+.

Well I just had a weird run. I have to move my 19 miler to Sunday due to a family event so I wanted to get something small in this evening. I haven’t run after work in over a year so I expected it to suck.
Apparently I was warmed up or something from the day and ran the first mile at a 9:35 pace thinking I was running slow. I felt like shite too and my legs hurt. I noticed my heel hurting too and every step felt like it was slamming into the ground.
Instead of slowing down like I should have, I decided to actually run so it felt like I was running fast and finished mile 2 at an 8:18 pace.
I might have kept going but my heel was killing me.
2 miles - 17:53

This is somewhat unrelated to this thread but I notice it on my walk/ runs so I'll throw it out there. I'm a thin 32 years old without the dad bod bull shite at ~#142-152 weight at 6'
Sometimes the veins in my arms are something you can't see for shite and other times they are popping out like a druggies wet dream. What makes it change?

2 main reasons.
You either:
1. Just got done working out.
2. Are retaining water.
ETA forgot about stress.

Hey guys, I've got a question. So a few days ago I started to feel some pain in my left knee cap. Nothing excruciating, but enough to cause me to step with a slight limp. I don't feel any pain when I walk, I only feel pain after about 2 miles of running or squatting. Since then I have not run and have walked a mile or two a day instead. After a couple of days of that, I still currently feel some pain from running or putting a lot of weight on it.
I've been consistently running 5-6 days/week for the last 4 or so months. I've gotten a new pair of running shoes, but I'm too scared to run in them so I just walk instead which feels fine fwiw. Also, the pavement trail I usually run has some sharp curves and I suspect that has a factor in this since that makes me transfer most of my weight to my left knee often.
Any recs on how to proceed here?

I need to you to expound. Are you having pain in old shoes or the new ones?

The pain began from running in my old ones. I got the new pair in response to this pain. The only time I feel any kind of pain while walking in my new ones is when I twist/bend my knee or ankle to navigate a sharp curve.
I'll also feel some slight pain if I squat at any point in the day

Old shoes for sure can cause that. I had a pair of UA shoes that were only good for about 200 miles before I started noticing pain. I’m close to 400 on a pair of ghosts with no pain. Old shoes weren’t bad, just needed to go.
I’d recommend continue walking in your new ones and avoid any trails with cutting or curves.
Also, a week off ain’t going to kill you. Whether it’s shoes or another injury, better to take a week off and recover before you agrivate something for good.

Yeah it was honestly past time for me to get a new pair, but I guess I saw no real reason to. I'm relatively new to running so I've never really suffered any kind of injury. If I had to guess I'd say I put over 500 miles on my Asics GT 2000. Switched them out for the Saucony Kinvara on Wednesday in response to this pain.

If it’s still hurting after taking time off to rest, then it would be a good idea to visit a doctor.
If it’s just hurting when you run, then it sounds like runner’s knee. Not serious but stretching, rest, and slowing down can help. It’s usually caused by adding too many miles or too much speed too quickly.

Unofficial time of 1:52:40 in the Jazz Half. This one hurt a little, started out way too fast.
