I always tell everyone to check their work as often as possible. If something doesn't look right, it isn't. Make them change it. Just today, I had a contractor at my house replacing bricks that they put down crooked. I mean....how do you not know what a straight line looks like?

Their excuse was that all of the bricks were old, and the ends weren't perfectly square. I walked around the house and showed them the exact same perfectly laid bricks done by another contractor a year ago. Fix it, and don't give me any excuses for shitty work. They fricked up one brick on today's redo. I ripped it up, and they are coming back tomorrow to fix it.

Earlier this year, I spent every day watching over a contractor and his subs renovating my bathrooms. I can't tell you how many times I had to instruct them how to do things properly or get them to rip out work that they said was finished. One tile guy tried to tell me that my bathroom tile was straight, when it curved off of the wall about 4" over an 8ft span.

About 3/4 of the way through the bathroom renovations, I told the contractor to leave and I finished the work. I could've done in a month what took them three.

The only reasons these guys do this shoddy work is because they are lazy and people let them get away with it. They will do it every chance they get. Never let something that looks wrong go. Don't listen to what they say, and make them change it. Maybe 1% of them put out quality work that you don't need to check. frick the rest

Wow, Looks like they threw down a little mortar and just started sticking tiles wherever. Seems like it would take effort to make it that bad. Or maybe they had an 8 year old doing it.

The last spec house I did crack heads came in after the rough in and stole all the wire for copper. They’re getting crafty. I wonder how long it took them to sit and strip all that wire for $100 worth of copper. The frickers cut what they couldn’t steal just to frick me even harder.

I've seen houses where they stole the A/C condenser off of the roof. Now, that's dedication

Lots of them and I make pretty decent money fixing them too... Lots of cowboys out there in every trade trying to sling sub-standard work. Problem is that most people today don't know enough to even know better and sign off on the shoddy workmanship.

Here is a ground rod we pulled out of the ground from a house that had issues.

It's supposed to be 10' long.

That roof sucks

My dad, brother, and I redid our roof 11 years ago looks a hell of a lot better and have had no issues with it.

Had a tile sub “with 20 years” experience install my master shower by putting the marble floor directly on the mortar bed without using a pan or other protective barrier. Eventually won in small claims court but what a pain in the arse.

Lol.
I do.

I fired a tile guy in the middle if a job because of how he started a corner. But since corner behind a toilet in the en suite I didn't fix it.

They build a fire and melt/burn the insulation off the wire leaving only the copper

You don't strip it. You sell it "dirty" for a few cents less.
