The reason why socialism is gaining popularity is that capitalism is not working well enough for enough people. It's an easy problem to solve but you capitalists won't do it because a few of you are doing so well you're too greedy to fix it.

If Milton was alive he'd be smart enough to realize that.

“Well first of all, tell me: Is there some society you know that doesn’t run on greed? You think Russia doesn’t run on greed? You think China doesn’t run on greed? What is greed? Of course, none of us are greedy, it’s only the other fellow who’s greedy. The world runs on individuals pursuing their separate interests. The great achievements of civilization have not come from government bureaus. Einstein didn’t construct his theory under order from a bureaucrat. Henry Ford didn’t revolutionize the automobile industry that way. In the only cases in which the masses have escaped from the kind of grinding poverty you’re talking about, the only cases in recorded history, are where they have had capitalism and largely free trade. If you want to know where the masses are worse off, worst off, it’s exactly in the kinds of societies that depart from that. So that the record of history is absolutely crystal clear, that there is no alternative way so far discovered of improving the lot of the ordinary people that can hold a candle to the productive activities that are unleashed by the free-enterprise system.”

No, the reason why socialism is gaining popularity is because people like Bernie Sanders have made unrealistic promises of free shite without any explanation of how said free shite gets paid for; and because financial and economic education has not been prioritized by the last 2 generations, people believe that there's a way to make socialism work.

Why am I even explaining this to you? Just shut the frick up Ralph, nobody cares.

How are people not doing well? How would socialism fix this?

The reason socialism is gaining popularity is because of an entitled generation who are too dumb to realize that capitalism has given them the best country in human history to live in but they're willing to squander it because they dont understand the difference between poverty and relative poverty.

If/when they crash the system with socialistic policies they'll learn the difference the hard way. Making everyone equally dirt poor and starving is one way to achieve their goal (wealth eqality).

Nonvalid statement. Like dividing by zero. No response is needed or possible.

This is fair enough.

This is fricking stupid. If you honestly believe anything near to this, you need to dramatically reevaluate your world view.

Capitalism doesn't work for the following

1) Mentally deficient
2) Physically handicapped (and not capable of white collar work)
3) Lazy
4) Socially dysfunctional.

It's liberating for everyone else.

So you want me to help you buy your swimming pool and Caddy just because I can afford to? That gives new meaning to the phrase "keeping up with the Joneses".

And this is what drives the socialist/communist mindset.

Its born out of envy and jealousy and feelings of inadequacy, which evolve into moral judgments that the successful are somehow not as inherently "good" as the unsuccessful.

I'd be much more inclined to believe the socialist/communistic left was sincere in their beliefs if they already volunteered more of their income and personal property to those that have less than they. Why wait for the government to tell ME that I have to part ways with any material or financial success, when you and those like you can contribute what you think is just and right.

never happens though.

the left always wants to punish the other side with their beliefs and that's far far worse than "greed".

Maybe you can do a comparison of North Korea and South Korea for us. Same people. Same work ethic. Different philosophies of how to manage the economy. It would be a good opportunity to show the ways that capitalism is failing the South. The North did build a long wall to keep the South Koreans out, correct? Things must be good up there.

The 'PEOPLE" capitalism is not working for are those who have that blood disease involving hemoglobin. The iron in the hemoglobin in their blood has turned to lead in their arse.
