Along the Atlantic ocean there are more turtle hospitals/refuges' than human homeless shelters. I am all for helping the sea turtles; but they have gone insane. One lady was on the local news after turning a turtle to the ocean saying that straws need to be banned! She didn't say why though...

Except that’s not what I did. My point, which sailed over your head, has to do with the continued INFANTILIZATION of an American culture where Progressives rage against straws while ignoring the things that actually matter to Americans. When you ban straws at your place of business, you have done NOTHING of substance, other than virtue- signal . Which in the end, in this Infantile social media culture is the Only thing that matters. It is a Phony gesture, by phony people, to garner phony accolades about how much they care about a phony issue.

That's fine. Plastic hurts the pretty sea turtles. If it works for Starbucks and they stay in business, that's the American system for you. If not, move on to the next one.

Priced at $25.99/straw.

But they haven’t banned straws. They are just no longer gonna provide traditional plastic straws to their customers. Instead they have designed a lid that doesn’t need a straw. And come up with alternative straws for those that still want/need one and for their drinks that require one.
They are a business that primarily sells drinks....that’s a lot of straws there. Starbucks doing this is something of a little bit of substance. Starbucks making changes to try to help the environment is their right as a business. I seriously doubt this will hurt them as a business.

Who cares ? Who goes to Starbucks anyway ? Secondly, what are we 5 years old ? Need a straw ?

Da fuq? Why? Their kid doesn’t get to play with a straw?

I see no problem with the straw issue as long as they work well.
To be upset over this is ridiculous.

I would imagine they have tested the hell out of the alternative ones. Starbucks may want to help the environment....but they also like money and making it. No way they are gonna jeopardize their brand.

A $10 million investment for a company Starbucks size is pretty awesome

Just came to be outraged about something that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things because change is bad and i don't like it.

So, if the plastic cups are recyclable then why not make the straws the same?

They've done it. They've solved one of the most pressing and important issues of our time. Good job.

Well. Then. Ok. I concede your sensible point in the interest of intellectual honesty. Maybe I out punted my coverage. Mea culpa.
