This is like banning post-its because they are a waste of paper but continuing to sell printer paper full speed. They aren’t going to ban the plastic cups that go with those straws, because the straws are clearly the larger issue.

I have no problem with a private company doing this.
I agree with this. And I would imagine Starbucks has extensively tested out the alternative straws before they even came to this decision.
Bet they will use this as a way to try and sell more of their reusable plastic cups and straws.

Straws are not recycled...plastic cups are

How, in any way, will this new policy make your life worse?

I don’t go into SB anymore.

This is no joke. Went on vacation just to realize that it’s apparently the low IQ, poor people that live in my area who would rather throw their trash right on the street than in a garbage can. While out of town I was amazed at how clean everything was. Looked at the curb while sitting at a light today and saw nothing but cigarette butts and trash. Cmon people!

I hope the Baws beat their wives and kick their dogs. I haven’t read the first response, but I bet someone has posted about $8 coffee. LOL

Does the coffee still come in a plastic cup?

I was about to post about this.
People are going to get worked up over anything.. But I don't see why it's such a big deal especially since there are biodegradable options.

It won’t effect my life . I’m not a customer anymore. Just making an observation about the kind of small-ball nonsense Americans assign virtue and importance to .

It's not just rednecks. The hood has more trash thrown around than any part of where we live. Most people that I know that hunt and fish are more careful with the environment than the average citizen.

They only use the straws for the cold brews and iced drinks anyways.

Liberal coffee drinkers unite. There are more cigarette butts on the ground than straws.

I have never visited Starbucks and never will.

you sound like one of the liberals already boycotting them.
melting over straws. straws.

I don't care for their coffee. They just burn it. There are much better options in most places.

Meh. Private company.
Won't have anywhere close to the environmental benefit some people expect but it's a smart move. Their core consumer base will like it and they'll spend a little less in supplies.

All I know is that Animal Kingdom in WDW is all paper straws and they suck. I believe WDW is going all paper straws soon.
I understand it's protecting marine wild life, but after 5-6 sips through a paper straw, it gets soggy and collapses.
