Google planning gaming platform to compete with Sony and Microsoft

We haven’t heard many specifics about Google’s video game plans, but what we have heard is that it’s a three-pronged approach: 1) Some sort of streaming platform, 2) some sort of hardware, and 3) an attempt to bring game developers under the Google umbrella, whether through aggressive recruiting or even major acquisitions. That’s the word from five people who have either been briefed on Google’s plans or heard about them secondhand.

If they could release a legit next gen console, while simultaneously building a legit (finally) streaming service with real access and speeds via their infrastructure, AND make some crazy Twitch via special Youtube Platform....Yeesh.

There are several big names that stream on YouTube. NickEh30 and StoneMountain64 come to mind. Though most YouTube gamers either also use twitch, or exclusively make videos.

I truly believe there is only enough room for 3 gaming consoles.. (2 depending on how you feel about Nintendo)
If Google jumps in the ring, it'll be interesting to see how everything plays out, I just hope Google doesn't ruin the good thing we have going with the Xbox heading into their Junior console

Maybe it will just be an affordable Steam box. Or they're just gonna build a console to stream their own new Steam type of service.

I've only used android stuff for years..specifically google devices (Nexus all the way to Pixel 2), can't wait for them to half-arse the gaming industry too!

LOL Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony would shite on Google in the gaming industry. They are too late in the game, no pun intended, for developers to care. There would be no profit in it.

I can see it being like Microsoft (Windows) getting into the phone market. They'll make a great device that runs well and has top specs. But it won't matter because the established consoles will crush it. People will continue to buy Playstation and XBox because that's what everyone else has.

They need to do better for the gaming system than they do with the Google Daydream VR. Their VR games aren't nearly as good as others.

Considering the gaming industry makes more money than movies and music combined, it's not surprising to see more people try to jump in. I don't see how this works unless Google starts buying up studios or publishers en masse.
