Gonzales police are looking for a woman who picked up from a store parking lot the wedding rings of a California woman on Sunday, who had come to Louisiana with her husband to adopt a child, Lt. Steven Nethken said. No arrest will be made in the case, he said.

While the husband was putting gas in the car, the wife took off her rings to put on hand lotion and put the rings in her lap. She later got out of the car, forgetting that the rings were in her lap and they fell to the pavement, he said.

When investigators reviewed the video surveillance from the store, after the couple had driven away, they saw a woman pick up the rings from the parking lot. The woman is believed to be driving a silver, four-door Chevrolet Sonic, the lieutenant said.

That's like going to Sea World and being upset that Shamu splashes water on you.

Rings pawned. Crack purchased.

Why should the police help with this? Seems like a waste of resources considering the woman fricked up by losing her rings.

Man, I just filled up my gas tank this morning and kept my ring on. Counting my blessings today.

Probably part of that whole serve portion of the "Serve and Protect" motto. I could be wrong, though.
Also, this is still theft if someone is looking for it, right? They weren't rings abandoned for years.

What could police do if woman is found? Can they force her to return rings? We are taught as children, finders keepers.

I'm calling the police right now. I left a pair of sunglasses on the roof of my car in San Antonio a few years ago. It was an accident. After driving away, I came back and was unable to find them. I'm gonna need them to get on that.

I honestly wonder where The Advocate gets their people. One would assume they hire people who graduated in Journalism and presumably took some English courses in college. One would also think they have an Editor or two employed there.
