Industry cries foul as river pilots use their clout

Nothing new here. It is fascinating how this salary process works for the families.

Carrying on the time-honored tradition of telling "the workin' man" he's their friend and fricking the general populace for their own enrichment and/or to stay in power.

They are paid the same on other harbors/ rivers too. I believe the Houston guys actually make more.

I'm curious though, how much does the normal boat captain make that drives the ship from harbor to harbor? I have no idea? It must be considerably less?

So, these guys decide who gets the jobs, they recommend themselves to run their commission, they set their own wages and expenses, and when anyone tries to audit them, they tell them to go frick themselves? That’s a fine racket. How is this shite even possible?

Look up how much money the pilots association gives to politicians state wide. That will give you your answer
