Oh, you're such a millennial brat.
I'm over 40 and graduated in 98. I will always stand by the fact that the real world is MUCH easier than college if...
1. you worked 15+ hrs a week while going to college full-time(12+ hrs).
2. you don't have 42 kids and two ex wives like me in the real world

Also, this smells like bullshite. I've never heard of a college class, hell any class, where attendance was weighted so heavily.
Seriously? Half of my classes at LSU that were English, or required humanities (you know, the classes no one gives a shite about) had mandatory attendance requirements. Especially the freshman and sophomore classes. Usually it's because some angry liberal dipshit professor is on a power trip because controlling this class is the only sense of accomplishment he gets out of his sad and pathetic wasted life.
But those classes were also the most fun. Just show up loaded, bullshite with the professor, act slightly interested and you could pass with an A without doing anything.

You realize how fricking lazy you have to be to simply not show up?
You are told to show up. It’s part of your grade. It’s free credit, you dumbass.

Absences without valid reasons, or unexcused absences, are limited to three per term in classes that meet three times a week (e.g., MWF) and two per term in classes that meet two times a week (e.g., TTH or MW). Beyond these limits, each unexcused absence will lower the final course grade by one grade increment: for example, a B+ goes to a B, a B goes to a B-, and a B- goes to a C+.
Soo.. what part of this was difficult for you to comprehend? Or was the class about reading comprehension? Because if that's the case then you clearly can't be held responsible for not understanding the policy

When students have valid reasons for absence (see PS-22), they are responsible “for providing reasonable advance notification and appropriate documentation of the reason for the absence” and “for making up examinations, obtaining lecture notes, and otherwise compensating for what may have been missed.” Teachers “will assist those students who have valid reasons,” but some in-class activities are difficult to make up. Valid reasons that must be documented include: illness; serious family emergency; special curricular requirements such as judging trips or field trips; court-imposed legal obligations such as subpoenas or jury duty; military obligations; serious weather conditions; religious observances (see the interfaith calendar website); official participation in varsity athletic competitions or university musical events.

NOTE: DOCUMENTATION FOR ABSENCES ARE DUE TO THE INSTRUCTOR WITHIN A WEEK FOLLOWING THE ABSENCE.
That sounds like an absolutely reasonable attendance policy.

Go to class phaggot

. But if I would have failed, I would have been causing a stir.
Why? You have to earn the points in all aspects that are graded. HW and attendance is part of that. If you failed, that's on you.

This class policy and teacher is the reason education in this country is a joke.
More of a reflection.
That policy is absolutely ridiculous, really any attendance policy in college is to a degree but this situation is to the extreme.
At the same time it's the sort of policy I would see day one, walk over to Middleton directly out of class and drop. I remember signing up for a trig class when I first got to LSU, looking for an easy A. Then I learn there's an attendance policy, TAs walk the room looking for cell phone use in class, and I had to spend like four hours a week in the math computer lab.
Dropped that shite as soon as I could get to a computer.

Well you're fricked. You read that, acknowledged, and ignored it. Now suffer the consequences like and adult and quit crying like a bitch.
Here's a protip for your life: no one gives a frick about your college transcripts.
Posted on 5/9/18 at 8:19 am to fightingtigers98
IIRC you’re given 3 unexcused absences. Then you get your grade deducted for every absence after that. Then if you miss more than a certain number of classes you automatically get an F.
Congrats, slacker. You pulled off the hat trick.

If there ever was an OP that perfectly summed up the millennial mindset, this would be it. This motherfricker KNEW the rules from day one, broke the rules intentionally with no regard, and NOW wants to bitch and moan because he's paying the consequences.
Re-enroll in the class and attend next time you fricking moron. As a taxpayer who helps fund the class you FAILED, I would be pissed if they let you pass it instead of going back and having to retake it, thus extending the amount of time you're enrolled at LSU, therefore pumping more money back into the university.
frick you, man. Just frick you and your childish behavior.

Well, you're a dumbass for knowing that and choosing not to show up. What did you think would happen?
Right
The policy is ridiculous but it's pretty clearly laid out

I don't disagree with the policy because it applies to me, I disagree with the policy because it's ridiculous.
You just learned a very important lesson about life. There's a lot of shite in life that is ridiculous, you just have to do it. Life isn't some game that you can pick up and put down at your convenience, same goes for your education. YOU ARE NOT SPECIAL.
As others have posted before, if the policy was stated in the syllabus and you chose to ignore, that's on you however ridiculous the policy may be. Everyone else who got an "A" for the class followed that policy, YOU ARE NOT SPECIAL.

The average of my papers was a 90, and I had an A in the class until participation was factored in which then brought my grade down to C+. I now have an F on my transcript because of this attendance policy
Posted on 5/9/18 at 8:20 am to fightingtigers98
Is a C+ a failing grade? Or are you being hyperbolic? Most programs don’t require a B or better in non-major required classes.

In 4 pages, somebody should have come up with this.
