Another Democratic win last night (Wisconsin, this time), Gov. Walker warns of #BlueWave

It was a statewide election for Wisconsin Supreme Court, and the conservative got trounced 56-44. He underperformed Trump by 12 points total in his home county (a swing county north of Madison).
#AmazonWashingtonPost - Dems win big in WI Supreme Court race
It's another muddled picture though - the conservative (Michael Screnock) was an unlikeable oaf who has a checkered past and his opponent is another moderate Democrat who ran a better race. She's more attractive, better matches the WI voters in general, and the GOP already held 4 of the 7 SCOW seats regardless of this outcome.
Still, Governor Walker tweeted his concern. There was some hope that the left's overreach on gun laws would have helped Screnock in this hunting-friendly state.

@ScottWalker Tonight’s results show we are at risk of a #BlueWave in WI. The Far Left is driven by anger & hatred -- we must counter it with optimism & organization. Let’s share our positive story with voters & win in November.

Wisconsin is more blue than red. Its just not California flaming blue, it’s a union blue-collar blue. That didn’t fit with Hillary’s agenda at all, and it fit a lot better with Trump. But in local elections it favors the blue people in that state

Republicans appear to dredge up uninspiring candidates.
Having fun and entertaining ones like Trump seem to be a rarity.

This sounds familiar to those of us in Alabama.
Republicans can expect to lose these types of elections, where the Democrat moves to the center against a poor Republican candidate. The party needs to run better candidates, with a focus on principles, not personalities.
The people are sick of the extreme left and the extreme right...they want be ruled from the center with fairness.

Run shitty candidates, get shitty results. Sound familiar?

WI is full of idiots.
Exhibit 1: Paul Ryan
At this point I'm pretty sure Ryan and McConnell want to lose in November so they can campaign as underdogs, which is all they know how to do, apparently.

Did they do away with the State Treasurer's Office? That was on the ballot, too.

Voter turnout for Judge elections are pathetic. Judges may have the most impact on every day life of people outside of Sheriffs and DAs.

A moderate Democrat will torch a morally questionable Republican every time.
Too many conservatives think every Democrat is bad nowadays. There are still some moderate Dems that are pretty much middle of the road on every issue. The far left is giving those guys a bad name.

Another one where the R candidate was not a good candidate and the dem is a bluedog. But let them get false hope...

Having read this Thread...sounds like what's left of the rational Dems have got the message and are abandoning the Far Left's Globalist (Open Border, etc.) and moving back to their traditional Blue Collar values.
Re the Election in November...a lot can and will happen between now and then which will change the (current) dynamics of those Races. From the OIG Report to the Immigration Law challenges/Regulatory reform...a few Trump Tweets can wreak havoc on Dems who run as political (Nationalist) sheep but are (Globalist) wolves.
Always the struggle.

No, you must counter it by recruiting better candidates. Stop backing shitbags that have all the warmth and compassion of a fricking Coke machine.

Over the last decade plus, the Koch Brothers have poured millions into Wisconsin elections, starting with the state supreme court. This was their worst defeat in a while.
Edit:
Walker stalled the special elections for an open Senate seat and an open Assembly seat, hoping to avoid losing them. (The GOP already lost a Senate seat in the Northwestern part of the state in a special election earlier this year.)
Those elections could have been held yesterday at near zero additional cost, but because of his tactics they now will be held in June. State law required such elections, but he and the other Republicans took the case to two courts to avoid compliance. By the time they lost, it was too late for Tuesday.

Courts are the last place you want conservatism.

quote:Maybe so, but at least where I live on Long Island, most judgeships are won by the candidate getting the endorsement of the Conservative Party. The Democrats and Republicans make deals all the time to get the Conservative cross endorsement. It's how that minor party stays alive.
