One evening, one meal, price is not a factor.
TIA

Both are fantastic, but, under your guidelines I would say Clancy’s 100%

I'd pick Brigtsen's, but didn't we talk about this before?
When are you going? Brigtsen's is doing some of the crawfish dishes it does this time of year. They're very good.

Ive been to both in the last month.
Enjoyed Clancy's apps more. Enjoyed the entrees at Brightsen's better, even though there are a few less choices. It kinda cuts to the chase. Frank does game meat better than anyone.
Ambiance at Clancy's is better. Not many restaurants can match is Nola charm. Brightsens can get a little crowded. But chances are Frank will come and chat up the table. Out of towner's love that. Clancy's can be kind of a "regular" type place.

quote:Yes, our reservation is at Brigsten's in a few weeks. But the response from the board in that thread was not what I was expecting. While Brigsten's was the clear choice over GW Fins, a lot of people said they'd pick other places over Brigsten's had I expanded the list of choices. So I'm wondering if I should choose Clancy's over Brigsten's before the date gets too close. We're in town for a family wedding and we'll have time for one breakfast, one lunch (Parkway for shrimp po-boys) and one dinner before heading up to Mississippi to visit family for a few days.

they are both good, you can't lose.
Clancy's is always crowded and if you don't know a waiter service can be kind of terse. but the food is outstanding. Brigtsens is more like eating in someone's living room

Both are great, but if forced to choose one, Clancy's.

How did this post get three down votes? It is pretty much spot on.

One of them is mine. I like to pile on when the numbers start to get crooked

That's right. I forgot about GW Fins being a choice. I think you'll enjoy either restaurant since you've been away a while. I prefer the atmosphere and the food at Brigtsen's, not by a mile, but I find Clancy's to be stuffy, quite honestly. As someone mentioned above, sometimes if you're not a regular, service can be a bit terse if not unpleasant. When I go to Brigtsen's, I feel like an invited guest if that makes sense.
I was making a reservation for Clancy's for Easter weekend. I was told I had to wait until 30 days to make the reservation. They don't take them earlier than that which is not all that uncommon. I called on the morning of the date they gave me and all I could get was a very very early reservation or a very late reservation. I took one, but ended up cancelling it. We decided to go to Fins instead since we've never been there. I wanted to go to Brigtsen's, but we also wanted to go to a few new places and I couldn't fit it in. I'll go there in late May anyway, though.

Balance is key.

Well, judging from the responses so far I'm going to keep the reservation at Brigtsen's. Thanks to all who responded.

Ive been to both numerous times. Both are excellent but I would choose Brigtsens because the maitre d at Clancy’s is full of himself. Regardless, you will get a great meal at both.
Shell Beach Diet at Brigtsens ftw. Favorite meal in the city.

Two of my favorites. I will give a slight nod to Clancy's, the uptown Galatoire's.
