I'm not sure when, but they signed some distributing deal with some company out of state to make their common beers on a bigger level than they can handle and then they'll make more of their speciality in house.

Their first batch of canned Envie was shite. Hopefully they get it fixed or this whole thing will backfire.

I am avoiding their canned beer for the time being. Everything in bottles will still come from Broussard.

Looks like he hasn’t been paying his bills and they’re foreclosing.

Well, this thread took off. We hit corner bar, legends on johnson and the legends by Cajun field. We thought about downtown but was told it was nothing like its early 2000s heyday which from reading this thread seems to be true.

I was more surprised at how much it's changed the last 10 years. Nothing like it used to be

Yeah, I was told that it tasted like the original Envie recipe so the owner flew out to the distributor and taught them how to brew everything correctly.

"where can you go out in Lafayette where there's not hipsters or affliction shirts?" ...

I think a better question is- why aren't young professionals, that can help spice up the Lafayette scene, going out and deciding to start families instead? That's the root of the problem with going out in Lafayette...

My husband and I just moved here last summer from NOLA and it's interesting because we were anomalies in NOLA for being our age and married & here we are anomalies because we are our age without kids yet. We enjoy a weeknight happy hour ending it with a few more drinks at a bar.. we enjoy a weekend dinner, drink, more drinks, and music.

Sadly, the handful of places we frequent are fantastic, but make us so depressed when we are there because they should be killing it witth the 28-40 year old young professional scene and aren't.

You’re normal.

It’s a small town Louisiana thing. You all would probably fit in better in a Nashville, Austin or Tampa.

All laid off during the O&G downturn or moved to Houston.

Yes, we do fit in better in Nola, Austin, or Nashville... we hated to leave, but had a better opportunity here for our careers.

We are also both from here, so we understand the small Louisiana town mindset.. But, we left to continue our education. Coming back was shocking. As we grew, we thought everyone else was, too. They didn't.

I would recommend traveling as much as you can. Sometimes when no one is doing much and you guys get bored, hit the road or go to an airport and fly somewhere for a nice weekend getaway.

Thanks for the tip. We definitely travel as much as we can. We snatch up cheap flights regularly for a long weekend trips. We head back to Nola often and luckily have friends all over the country, so we always have somewhere to go. Our friends that live here all have kids and are much more settled. Our friends everywhere else are enjoying the finer things in life which includes good food and drink.

We would love to find more people like us in Lafayette, but being a large town, everyone already has their little clicks- us included!
